There are quite a few historical places from the Civil War...
There are quite a few historical places from the Civil War era to visit, i will make another trip when i have more time to visit these places. Joplin history is quite interesting, lots of mid 1800 and earlier history as out country grew westward.

Trip went as planned. Light rain while visiting Precious Moments chapel. Staying here you will be treated good by staff. Motel is close to anything I would have ever needed. Filthy, abandoned buildings and homes, homeless, drug dealers, drug heads and prostitution everywhere, rude and hateful locals. Most attractions were closed down and camping sites were overrun with homeless people in tents. No law enforcement in sight. THE TRIP TO JOPLIN MISSOURI WAS AWESOME. THEY HAVE WATERFALLS AND GREAT THINGS TO SEE AND FLEA MARKETS AND THRIFT STORES. YOU ALSO CAN ADVENTURE OUT AND SEE OTHER STATES THAT ARE REAL CLOSE. THE HOTEL WE STAYED IN WAS GREAT.I TRULEY RECOMMEND PEOPLE TO ADVENTURE OUT TO JOPLIN MISSOURI AS YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE.

Joplin is a very nice town and easy to get around. We were passing through on our way to Bella Vista. We loved the location as we got in late and wanted a nice dinner, which we got at Cheddars, I highly recommend the restaurant, excellent food, great staff and prices were very good.

Joplin is a good weekend getaway.
Joplin is a good weekend getaway. We went to the local waterfall and had a wonderful time taking pictures and climbing on the rocks. We absolutely loved Roller City for the skating and laser tag. Their laser tag option was nice laser guns and made for a great day of family fun. We also stopped at the civil war battle site in Carthage which was small but informative for our history buffs. I even dropped into the Precious Moments chapel which was cute and really informative about the artist and his life. The grounds are beautiful and it felt like a great piece of Americana. We drove on Route 66 as well. In past trips, I have gone to Oceans of Adventure which the little ones just loved. So, plenty to do for a 3-day weekend adventure.

The lady at the front desk put us in a room not facing the interstate which was very thoughtful. Great breakfast set up. Stocked market for cold drinks and snacks.
