The lady on reception was very helpful but unfortunately dinner was not available the day we stayed but the breakfast was exceptional. The host did organise dinner with a restaurant nearby. A lovely retreat on the hillside overlooking the valley. The swimming pool was a nice surprise.

Ramón is a great host and took care of us from the beginning, storing our bicycles and dealing with our smelly bike clothes handing them over dry the next morning. We had a chat about our bike route for the next day and had an amazing time with him and in the room, which was clean and with all the amenities listed. He recommended us some restaurants too as his was closed on that day. We had a nice breakfast and he also prepared bocadillos for us as we were getting ready. This is a 2 star hotel but it should have plenty more!

I am a cyclis, I have visied Lanjaron numerous times over the years. I usually stop with a tour company. The place is great for mountain biking and hiking, its a small place but good choice for food and drink. The people are friendly and the mountain biking is excellent.

As per my apartment comment, the cohetes (extremely loud banger fireworks) are horrendous for the unsuspecting tourist. Make you jump out your skin, they are so loud & they start and stop all evening until late. Pretty much ruins the evening - you can’t have a conversation & you keep getting a fright every time they sporadically start up. My understanding is they were originally for festivals , which would be fine, but now apparently, any excuse and off they go. Perhaps the town does not want or need tourists, in which case fine happy with that approach to limit their stay, I would not stay more than one night.

Bubion does not get bus loads of tourists like the two larger villages either side of it, but it is equally attractive. The small back streets are well worth exploring. There is good walking in the area.

Small town in the Sierra Nevada.

Small town in the Sierra Nevada. Narrow Streets - and several restaurants (restaurant Fragua is highly recommended!) Well situated for dat hiking - potentially strenous, say 800 vertical meters in 6-7 km. (some 15% climb) -areas with snow in June. Try the Ham Museum as well!

The "Cafe Europa" serves an absolutely splendid 3-course lunch. Pampaneira is walked through in a couple of minutes and makes for some nice pictures, but this is the highlight for us, every time we get here. Other than that you can take a considerable 10km hike all the way up to Capileira and down the other side of the river. This can be shortended by making it down to the river from Bubion. We had a very pleasant hike, partly shadowed by trees. No water source on opposite side, so fill up in Capileira.

    It's a very quaint place.

It's a very quaint place. There are some nice bars and restaurants. The Hotel Balnerario offers different spa treatments to the public although we didn't have time to visit. Much of the activities surrounding Lanjarón involve walks and outdoor activities. It's a beautiful area and the other neighbouring villages are well worth visiting too. Lanjarón itself has a lovely little park (parque El Salado) and there's the museum of honey (museo de miel €3 entry) It's an interactive museum and it's fun and interesting. Be warned it's all in Spanish. There is also the ruined castle to visit. In the village there are some helpful guides to walking routes which range in length and difficulty. There is also a tourist information office to offer help and advice

Capileira is a delightful village in a stunning location overlooking the Poqueira gorge. There are some great inexpensive restaurants and lots of walks on marked trails. We particularly recommend the Corral de Castano restaurant as we have eaten there 4 times.

A sad derelict town, many premises closed up. Obviously it has been a thriving town once but now neglected and rundown. We had a snack in a rather dirty cafè. One point to bear in mind is that everything is closed between 2.00 and 5.00 p.m. Òrgiva is rather hilly with some very steep streets so not advised for elderly or disabled people. I will not be returning.

Bubion is a spectacular village high up in the mountains with spectacular views all round. Walking round the village was a great experience with traditional narrow streets and houses. People were very friendly and there are some great traditional shops. Lots of bars and restaurants around and the food was fantastic. If you are out of season not all the bars and restaurants are open.
