NetherlandsThis guesthouse is owned by the Inti Sisa foundation and run by the local community (mostly women!). Not only did we learn all about the projects the Foundation runs for vulnerable children and women, we also truly immersed in the culture and had an amazing time in a very clean, comfortable guesthouse with a nice big breakfast and dinner (great beds too btw). This is a must-visit in Ecuador to meet the locals and understand the country you’re visiting so much better. You can do hiking tours & cultural trips into the Andes. It’s the perfect win-win of a great stay where your money goes straight to those who need it most.

NetherlandsThis was the most valuable, rememberable stay we had in Ecuador. We loved it! The location, and the drive towards it, is breath taking. The cabin is fantastic, build like in the old days, but with todays modern facilities. It is realy spacious, sleeps 6 if you like. The Italian volunteers were on premise, and they were oh so kind. They explained about their good work and about the Esperanza community. We met with some of the people, who were all very kind and lovable. We have lots of respect for the lady that runs the kitchen and the bank office (I don't remember if it was Francesca, Florence...?). She's a power woman! We got to see the milk factory inside, visited the community building, met de manager there, and visited the school. The kids in the highest class (11-12 years) grabbed their instruments and played us some songs. If people ask about how our vacation was, this is what we tell them about.

A charming place to stay, close to Guamote by car but far enough to enjoy a quiet night.
Nicely furnished, very welcoming. A small heating in the room makes the difference.
Very good (& generous) dinner and breakfast.

We came to Guamote to see the markets and stayed in this lovely hotel
As the Guamote is small, it's easy to walk from the hotel to everything.
The room was good, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower worked well, and we were very content with what we got. There was good WiFi throughout the hotel.
The downstairs area had plenty of places to sit and relax, and the staff were very accommodating. There is another quite expensive hotel in the town but I think we picked the best one.
