This place was already very nice to stay in- good rooms, great design, great breakfast and service. But what exceeded our expectations very much was when we got sick. We were taken care off so well, contacting dokter, adjusting food so we could eat a little bit, the caring words... We are so very thankful to the staff.

If you want to discover the Toraja culture, look no further. No book nor improvised guide will be able to explain you such a complex culture in details. Hendrik (the owner) organized everything for us, being a Toraja himself, he took us on a tour of the traditional villages, while giving us tons of information about their rituals, beliefs, and social structure. We've also been lucky enough to witness a traditional Toraja funeral, an experience I'll never forget. This has been the most interesting (and true) experience we had during the entire trip in Indonesia, no tourist traps, no fake shows mocking Indonesian traditions. For a brief moment, we've been part of an ancient and beautiful culture, wish i could have stayed longer. Recommended 10/10

This hotel is completely new, as it only opened about a month ago. It belongs to the sister of the owner of Sandu Homestay, and both of them are absolutely wonderful. From the very beginning, the hospitality was incredible, and they paid attention to every little detail. Regarding the location, although it is a bit further out (around 3 km from the center and the main restaurants), you’ll actually appreciate it because the area is incredibly and peaceful. The rooms are spacious, brand new, and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were especially cozy. The bathroom was clean and private; even though there isn’t a separate shower enclosure, the toilet is slightly elevated, so the bathroom doesn’t get flooded. The balcony is amazing—especially on the third floor—with beautiful views over the rice fields. For breakfast, they are very flexible with timing and offer two options: Asian or continental. Both are generous in portion and include a fruit plate, as well as tea and coffee. They help you with absolutely everything you need. We rented a motorbike from them for three days at a very good price, and it was in great condition. On top of that, they had so many thoughtful gestures: they drove us to the bus station on our last day, prepared two containers full of fruit for our journey to the next city, and even helped us organize transportation there. I highly recommend this place. They truly adapt to your needs, are always there for you, and go out of their way to answer any questions. It’s absolutely worth staying here

We stayed 3 nights at Pairi's Homestay. It is a beautiful place a bit north of Rantepao. Onya, our host, helped us with organizing bicycles and answered every question we had. Very kind family! There is a simple but good breakfast included. Also there is water, tee and coffee available all day. From the veranda you have a look at the traditional buildings of the family. We can recommend renting bikes for the time of your stay at Rantepao, especially Pairi's Family Homestay. So you are very flexible in where and when you want to go somewhere in the area. Thank you Onya for the welcoming hostage! 🙏

Hostel Papa Tia is more than just a place to stay. Yacob and his family make you feel part of their home. The breakfast was exceptional. The dinner was even better. The hostel also offers the best tours and guides. For 4 days we got to know a culture completly different to ours thanks to Yacob. On top of that Yacob even offered help when our flight was cancelled 4 days after we left his homestay.

We had a delightful stay at Nuansa Homestay, immersing ourselves in its rural charm and authentic accommodation. The host family was not only friendly but truly lovely and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. The traditional Tongkonan house was exceptionally clean, and surprisingly, no mosquitoes bothered us. One highlight was the fantastic guide (Mr. Natan) they provided, enhancing our experience.
