Breakfast very good, and every day they change something: base is very good coffee, fruit, honey jam, milk, and one day you have beans cooked in coconut sauce, another day chapati or omelettes, then toasts or sweet rice balls, something typical swahili and we enjoyed a lot. All you need to do is buy groceries and come on over. There are no supermarkets on the island. The island has many picturesque spots, and you shouldn't consider this island just an addition to a visit to Kisite National Park. The island is beautiful both at high and low tide. There are some abandoned hotels on the island, which is sad. I think this is due to the pandemic and the outbreak of war in Europe. We saw a similar picture on Diani Beach. Very few tourists. I hope this will end soon, and people will stop killing each other and start actively traveling again and becoming interested in other cultures.

One of the highlights of my trip was the special excursion to Shale Island – it was breathtaking and perfectly organized by the hotel. The hotel is simple but nice for relaxing after an ocean safari. The room was clean (no insects). There is an outdoor terrace. The staff was nice and warm. The water pressure in the shower was low, but that’s normal for Africa. In addition, there is no water on the island, they use rainwater and bring water from the mainland for drinking. The food was delicious – fish, crab, prawns, etc. The hotel is not on the ocean, the hotel is on the second line. We went to the hotel because we wanted an ocean safari. The hotel manager Ally organized a very nice full day ocean safari – coconut crab island, dolphin tour, coral gardens and also a small island tour. Ally also organized a transfer – by tuk-tuk from the highway to Shimoni port and then by boat from Shimoni to Wasini Island. I recommend it if you want an ocean vacation.
