Set in the Skjæringa area of Longyearbyen, Mary-Ann's Polarrigg is built with old rigs. Central Longyearbyen is between 6-8 minutes walk away and the airport bus stops right in front of the hotel. Absolutely everything, one of the best places i've ever stayed in.

EVER! I have been to Longyearbyen before, but stayed in a hotel. This time I was traveling with my mom, and wanted some place a little bigger. This apartment popped up and it turned out to be the best place we stayed during our entire arctic trip! The host was incredibly communicative, and helped us out with a few hiccups that happened during our stay. The apartment is incredibly spacious and clean, and the beds are amazingly comfortable! It was so cozy, and there was a helpful little pamphlet explaining everything that you may need to know about the space. It's easy to get to the center of town, about a 3-5 min walk to the coop, Stationen, etc. Again, the host was AMAZING, and I cannot recommend this place enough! We even got lucky enough to see the northern lights off the balcony on a few nights during our stay! Love, love, LOVED this place and this host!

The staff was great, doing an excellent job of running the place. The food was so delicious: the breakfast, the dinner, and also the freshly baked cookies and cakes in the community building. A special treat was watching movies about the history of this remarkable place in the evening, in the comfortable sofas of the bar area. The rooms are clean and simple. I initially worried a bit staying there would become boring, since there is no internet, and it is not possible to leave the hotel on your own (because of the possibility of polar bears). I was wrong: Multiple guided tours could be booked on the spot, visiting different areas of the settlement (or, in summer, even the surroundings, but I was there in October, with snow already covering the landscape). I highly recommend this place, run so professionally by the staff.
