The centrally located Pohutukawa Lodge is an 8-minute walk from Whangarei's town centre. It is 5 minutes' drive from Whangarei Events Centre and Toll Stadium (Semenoff Stadium). Whangarei Airport is a 15-minute drive away. Our room was immaculately clean and very comfortable!!!

Hongi Hika Park is 2 km from the hotel. The Kerikeri Golf Club is just over a 15-minute walk away. Avalon is just over 15 minutes’ by car from Bay of Islands Airport. It was a fabulous sanctuary, offering a sauna and natural spring-fed pool. We didn't use either of these but it was so beautiful and peaceful just being there. And a short walk down to the river. The whole area is really well maintained by a team of people. I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Kerikeri.

The Grays is a recently renovated homestay in Whangarei, where guests can make the most of its open-air bath and garden. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The homestay has an outdoor fireplace and a hot tub. I felt like I was staying with family friends. They were so friendly, I had some incredible chats with everyone, and of course the dogs were sweethearts - well trained, didn't jump up at me but did want pats if possible. I don't really write reviews normally but honestly this stay was a highlight of my trip. They did also mention that some people who come to stay aren't that sociable and that they are more than happy with that - very much each to their own so even if you aren't sociable, this will be a relaxing stay. Views were wonderful from the deck, spa was delightful, but honestly, the people were fantastic. Definitely think I'll stay here any time I'm in Whangarei going forward.

Fantastic location, literally less than 5 minutes drive from the beach, cafes, and shops. Super for a break away. Has everything you could want or need. Suoer for getting back to you with any questions about the area regarding taxis and such. 100% will be back again on the next trip North

The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, bed linen, towels, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a terrace with mountain views. A private entrance leads guests into the apartment, where they can enjoy some chocolates or cookies. The accommodation is non-smoking. Beautiful hosts, very welcoming, gave us great information on where to go and where to eat. Fantastic private area with separate lounge. Breakfast was really good as well. Beautiful home and the gardens were gorgeous. Only one night but it was lovely
