Amazing staff, very helpful. There is a washing machine, they can wash your clothes for you or you can do it yourself. They offer to clean your shoes after treking or your car. Very nice food. Quiet place next to the busy road.

Joachim and the team made us feel instantly at home. It was more of a homestay than a hotel. Wonderful food served in a living room with kitchen and fireplace. As a bonus, the host is a great source of information about the local region and travel in Rwanda in general. Certainly was one of the most memorable parts of our trip in the area.

Ruhondo island retreat was fantastic - both in terms of natural beauty and as a gateway to many local community experiences around lake Ruhondo. Jean was amazing and led us on a hike and community visit - he shared awesome info about the area where he was born. The tents were awesome - with great hot water showers. The food was also excellent, the chef Elias did a great job! I would recommend visiting lake Ruhondo , and the retreat, as an alternative to lake Kivu.
