Palmento Grove was as promised. An island in a lagoon at the edge of the sea. Rustic amenities were both charming and comfortable. The opportunity to take part in a Garífuna cultural experience was a joy, and a great way to begin our trip in Belize.

Was clean and had restaurants on property if you wanted to eat close to your condo. Bikes were such a fun activity. I really enjoyed being able to access town without a vehicle!

I love the view from my villa, my villa was huge and comfory, the restaurant food and drinks and staff was awesome. I loved how they had my name on the welcome sign and I got a welcome drink !!! I love the pool and the access to the beach. The complimentary bike was such a plus I used it to tour the city.

Dangriga is interesting to visit just to experience life in a sleepy Belize town with strong Garifuna culture. But there aren't a lot of attractions, so to speak.
The Garifuna museum was closed (unexpectedly), which was a main thing I wanted to see, so that was disappointing. The drumming night at Seavana was great, all locals. A little out of town you can try all the hot sauces at Marie Sharp's.
You might be able to catch a boat tour to do some fishing or snorkeling (but probably nothing you can't get out of Hopkins).
It's probably best to come to Dangriga when there are specific events, like Settlement Day, or Christmas Eve/Day. Otherwise there's not much going on.

There are some great shops with local artist works.
There are some great shops with local artist works. A very nice restaurant just up the street. A very good street vendor for fresh fruits and veggies just up the street as well. The local people are terrific. The Hopkins town council members need to work on cleaning the streets and beaches. The place has great potential. But with the trash everywhere. Who wants to return to that.

The town is very nice, a little bit underdeveloped but you can see the great possibilities for growth there. Not a posh place for sure, but pretty friendly and picturesque. Good food, a laid-back atmosphere.

I was there in slow season, so it was nice to see what regular life in Hopkins looks like, but the downside (as a solo traveler) was that I couldn't book a snorkeling trip, because no one was going out. And many places were closed. Not a problem for me, because I wasn't there to party, but I would've liked to see more of the cultural side of Hopkins.

Stay here, if you have to (e.g. on the way to somewhere else). The town has nothing to offer and the beach really isn't nice (sand, but not the nice white one, and in the water it is shallow and muddy and there is garbage on the shore).

Hopkins is a vibrant village with great eateries.
Hopkins is a vibrant village with great eateries. We really enjoyed biking around the village and down the beach. However the garbage that washes up onto the beach is a real detractor. I hope the village will address this issue in the future.
