Kittilä is a small town with a singular trunk road through it. It is a perfect getaway for those wanting peace and quiet without giving up on modern conveniences. For those wanting to ski, Levi is a short bus ride away. The presence of an airport puts Kittilä only an hour and a half away from Helsinki and onwards to the rest of the world.
The house is spacious and in a good location. It was not very clean and not very well equipped. Heaters were not working properly and therefore it was a bit cold in the main room. There is not WiFi rooter as it is stated.
Its a very small town with not much to do. Perfect for a little getaway if you just want to hang out in the snow. the scenery is nice but if youre looking for some enterntainment or cafes or something then maybe go somewhere else.
They should rename the airport ”Levi airport” as it is confusing for international tourists having Kittilä airport, Sirkka village and Levi fell all in the same concept. Keep it simple and make it easier for foreigners to find you! :)
We didn't see much of Kittila as the trip was mainly to visit Levi!! We stayed in Hotelli Kittila, which was great value, very comfortable and a superb breakfast!! And - it was only 10 minutes drive from the airport! On the first morning we went to the Snow Village where we had a guided tour - superb venue with amazing snow and ice sculptures. On the evening of the second day, we had arranged a Snow Cat expedition. This took us up the slopes to the top of the Gondela 2000 cable car route, from where, in the freezing cold (-20 with windchill!!), we were able to see the Aurora!! Not a magical bouncing display, but still the Aurora!!
