Hotel in Castle Donington ( 1.5 miles)
This hotel is set in some of Derbyshire's most beautiful countryside, built around a Norman mill tower along the banks of the River Trent. Everything Beautiful setting and the weather was perfect to sit and eat outside
very tired, shabby, needs a massive makeover, but good location, easy parking and a very friendly helpful member of staff. Works for an overnight stay, we were travelling from Scotland to Southampton so it was a good stop off, also would be good if flying from East Midlands
Kegworth is a dormitory town, with little character or facilities. It is very close to East Midlands airport but that's about it. The Coop is usually quite well stocked and Oaklands is a nice bakery/deli/butchers. I only stay in Kegworth as I am attending an event there, otherwise I would avoid it at all costs
Mainly spread along a busy road, a few decent size pubs along the way and one very large Marston eatery, and a curry house that does not have a drink licence, whatever next☹️. Had to get a drink, at the pub across the road, and take it in, then return the glasses later.🤔 Another couple of eateries down on the canal area. There is also a museum that tells you about the area, which I believe was once what they call an inland harbour. All in all, it's nice to walk round, have a meal and a beer here n there and, once away from the busy road, enjoy the canal walks.
A great place to stay if you are going to an event in Loughborough. Really well located. Easy to get to/from motorways and to the town. Clean, felt safe, value for money, warm welcome. Can park close to the room.
The room was really clean and the bed was very comfy, just right. Shower was hot and plenty of pressure :)) Room temp and aircon was easy to use One thing I would ask for next time is to be away from the exit door which banged frequently during the night.
The reception is part of the bar, so it was unfortunate that we arrived seconds behind a 72 seater coach full of pensioners from Cheshire who were all gagging for a drink. I waited for 15 minutes to be checked in by someone who appeared to believe that I was a bit of an inconvenience when they were rather busy ACTUALLY. In the room, the kettle didn’t work unless you held the switch down, the fan didn’t work at all (it was a warm night), neither of the bedside lamps worked and the food was overpriced, so we went elsewhere for dinner because we have a policy that if staff can’t be bothered to give us good service, we can’t be bothered to spend more money in the hotel. It was only made acceptable because we were leaving at 4.00 am and we didn’t have to join an interminable queue for dinner or breakfast with the aforementioned coach party. I saw some pretty critical reviews, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. On this occasion, it was misplaced
