The hotel has plenty of character. Old woodwork and a view on the Main Street. We felt in the middle of it, yet it was very quiet at night. Staff was very friendly.

Kempsford is a quiet village. There is a church and a pub. The pub is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. New houses are being built on the edge of the village. A lot of cars left the village in the mornings, so a lot of people live, but don't work there.
Swindon and Cirencester are easy to reach.
The countryside around Kempsford is beautiful.

Fairford is great.
Fairford is great.
It feels like a real place - especially after you have driven through some very very touristy places to get here.
There is a selection of good pubs, a couple of useful (very) small supermarkets, and good cafes and takeaways. We'd have liked to try the Italian too.
The church is justifiably famous for its stained glass, which does not disappoint, and the lovely welcome from the church volunteers added to the charm.
The walking is excellent - up or down the river, or down to various bits of the Cotswold water park.
We saw lots of wildlife (including a kingfisher) - always a bonus.

Lots of things to do in the area, we particularly liked the Cotswold Sculpture park and Kelmscot Manor. Restaurants in Cricklade were good. The village is nice to walk around with a small post office / shop a few yards away. The outside of the house was still being done up but the inside was nice and comfortable. To get to the parking you had to drive onto the building site at the back but this was not a problem.

The decor, furniture, beds, linens felt tired and dated. The house was not particularly clean- unsightly stains on woodwork and carpet in one bedroom, lots of dust and spider webs in rooms, living room was not vacuumed, light switches did not work in bedrooms, oven was quite dirty inside and out, towels had faint smell of cigarette smoke, most of the walls in the property had dark scuff marks, beds were uncomfortable and old. Absolutely not good value for the price they charged.

A good stop off town ‘Lechlade on Thames’ to visit local places like the Buscot National Trust Manor and gardens. Just a 2 minute drive to one of the canal locks ( St. John’s) and a walk along the tow path for an evening stroll.

Excellent location and nice bar.
Excellent location and nice bar. Food was very good in restaurant but beware as complicated arrangements for booking breakfast so unable to book on second day. Characterful hotel but tired decor. Ground floor bedroom had dirty net curtains and extensive thick black mould on inside of the bathroom window frames, also stained cushions. Staff were all excellent, friendly and efficient.

I had work & friends to meet elsewhere so going back because as I left I came across the most stunning walk/valley & river.
The village itself has a quaint shop with coffees etc.
Easy for Cirencester. Burford Bibury.
I ate at the pub-sorry there was nothing left on the plate to photograph.

The pub and village were delightful, ideal for a long weekend break. We ate at the pub, the breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Beer was really nice as was the wine. Some great walks from the village to Bibury.
