This house is lovely and quiet. It is about 2 km from the beach but we like to walk and had a car. It is very secure and comfortable. The hosts were just a few houses down at 660 his moms place. The google doesn't work to find the house properly so they list the moms address which threw us for a loop a bit but eventually we figured it out with Alec waving at us a few houses toward the beach. They were lovely responsive hosts. super prompt to show me how the shower upstairs worked and got us more water quickly as well. I would definitely stay here again and already passed his number to some friends. thank you for a lovely stay. Hope to see you again next year. :) amy, louissa and kirk.

The resort itself reminds me of all these Hollywood, but with an Italian finish! The original touches when it was built so the exquisite Italian architecture. It hasn’t been as well maintained as it could have, but I love the resort. The breakfast are fantastic lots of activities. Great pools just a beautiful magnificent palace. I enjoyed the mini golf the pools, the fantastic buffet breakfast and tennis. The boats to the main town were frequent and ran 24 hours a day. Such a relaxing visit.

If you want a lot of action and partying you'd probably prefer Puerto vallarta or other places. Melaque is cozy and much less touristy, more a mom and pop vibe than a mall. Hotel Aurelia, wonderful , say hi to Cindy. A little place called Sabor de México was great, say hi to Lupita! The walk along the malecon and very long beach, watching pelicans dive for fish, fishermen, sunrise, sunset.

Such a great little town.
Such a great little town. We came in the off season so it wasn't too crowded. There are many bars and restaurants that have their own style and personality. The sunsets were amazing and the people were very friendly. It's easy to get around town but I would recommend renting a golf cart or car because of the humidity. We never had a bad meal there, even the pizza from the street vendor was tasty.

Melaque is a great mid size beach town.
Melaque is a great mid size beach town. There are lots of shops, and many food stores. In particular there is a great grocery called "Super Hawaii" in town by the plaza on the main street coming in. It has everything you could possibly want from veggies, to beverages. Kirkland products too. The locals are warm and welcoming, always with a smile and happy to help out. There is a bus terminal there as well for those who choose to travel by bus. There are cute restos/bars on the beach and the malecon/boardwalk is lovely despite it's size. Swimming is very good on the north end of the beach as the waves in the bay can be very powerful with rip waves further south. There is no shortage of things to do as Melaque does cater to a fair number of snowbirds migrating from both the USA and Canada. Several have made it their new home as well. Also, the town is very flat and many people bicycle throughout. Renting a bicycle is easy and very convenient.

Barra is a small, friendly and safe beachfront town with many great eating and drinking establishments. You can walk to anywhere in town in under five minutes. Lots of music everywhere. There is a large marina and a nice little surfing spot at the south end of town. My wife and felt like some of the younger tourists and we are in our early 50's. Some of the spots we enjoyed
The Malecon at the south end of town.
The pastries at El Horno Francès French bakery
Beachfront sunsets and Margheritas @ Nachos
Paty restaurant for breakfast
La Bruja for good coffees
Señor froys for dinner.
The town square pop up market on Thursdays.
This is a great town to relax enjoy the ocean, drinks and people.
We walked to Melaque on the beach which took about 45 min to an hour, do this early, it's hot out there.
All the birds too!

We will be staying in San Patricio Melaque for six months from September 29-March 26 2025. We rented a golf cart from Mexicana Anna’s to get around with our two senior dachshunds Limo and Lincoln. It is a beautiful beach town with lots of culture and beauty. The locals are warm and welcoming and there is plenty to see and do as well as many bars and restaurants.
