The 3 casino property that make up The Row are undergoing a very large renovation. Many of the restaurants are closed and the casino seems to be downsized. The kids area is still there and very pleasant for families. If I were to do this again I would probably go elsewhere due to the renovations.
Sparks is the unpretentious neighbor to Reno. Aside from the Nugget, It has nice neighborhood casinos and many fine hotels and restaurants. Also, there are several festivals every year that make the trip worthwhile: Hot August Nights and the Rib Fest are just two.
Everything was in walking distance including the river walk. The museums a bit further away The famous car and Planetarium centers then the state museum /botanical gardens, are all attractions. Easy get a bike out electric /normal and cruise the sights.
Have always visited Reno my whole life. My parents liked to come gamble! We liked getting away from the BayArea sometimes! Can’t believe how Reno has become the last 20 years. So many casino closures, just a Skelton of how it use to be. My boys grew up visiting Circus Circus. Loved it! Miss the circus acts, reasonable buffet. The casino needs a make over, more modern, nicer rooms. Not sure if we will visit again, might stick to the casinos in the area. Thank you for letting me give my opinion.
the location was good. Clean bedding and towels. Check out was quick and the AI text for help was somewhat useful. Disliked · To start the trip I was almost run over by a valet driver while walking across the street. When my partner said woah, the valet didn't apologize he just told us to calm down. We were calm so that was weird. Parking was a nightmare. There is not signage for parking for guest only. We drove around the parking garages for over an hour looking for space. We tried to have the valet park our car but where told the valet was closed. Finally we were able to talk to someone at the bell desk and he told us to park in a section of the parking lot that said valet and motorcycles only and guaranteed us that we would not get towed. Checking in there was a line and we used the self check in system which was fast. However the ticket it give just gave us our room number and there was not explanation about the towers. So we waited in line for the elevator and ended up not finding our room. There were also few signs in the hotel about how to get to the other tower and the elevators over there. There were very little staff around to ask questions of. The bed was uncomfortable. The room had brown spots on the ceiling and the sheet rock work was falling off in some place. The bathroom looked like it had water damage on the ceiling and there was not fan in the bathroom. Our check out time was at noon and house keeping nocked don our door at 10am after we had confirmed a noon check out. Appropriately named Crucis Crucis.
Reno center appears to be decaying, like many others. Cars and motorcycles racing through town, while cops look the other way. Homeless people sleeping in empty lots and sidewalks. Buffets? Forget about it....not what they used to be. Same with entertainment, if you can find any. Decades ago, Reno was a fun town...very sad now. Try Lake Tahoe for your vacation destination. More $$$ but worth it.
