It felt very safe, I had absolutely no issues walking around, exploring the city and walking back at night. Some fancy hotels like St Regis are just around the corner, so it says a lot about the area. If you love walking, then the location is perfect, 3 km walking to the Osaka Castle, 2 km walking to Osaka station for those day trips to Kyoto and also 2 km to Dotonbori. If you want to use the metro, the hotel is right next to the station, in fact one of the lifts takes you down to the station. The hotel room was small, but comfortable. Perfect for a solo traveller. The breakfast was great, lots of western and local choices. And the best part is that it is open from 6 am to 1 pm, I love that flexibility. In the area there are a lot of food choices for lunch and dinner. If not the 7eleven around the corner is one of the best I have seen in Japan, big with lots of snacks/meals. But the best, absolutely the best part was the Spa, they have a women's only section and it was exactly what I needed after a day of exploring.
