We have been traveling around Southeast Asia for about five months now, visiting 6 or7 countries, and we’ve realized that it’s not the nature, food, or history that stays with you the most, but it’s the people. Our first week in the Philippines, while staying in Manila, wasn’t the best experience. But everything changed once we arrived on Mindoro Island, and especially when we stayed at Macrina’s place. Macrina and Ligh are two of the kindest, most welcoming people we’ve met on our journey. Every morning we had a different breakfast, and it genuinely made us excited to wake up. Almost every night they invited us to join their “family dinner,” completely free, and the vibe felt exactly like that -warm, homely, and full of care. The food was the best we’ve had in the Philippines, and the way they treated us made us feel not just like guests, but like long-time friends. We’re already looking forward to coming back and visiting Macrina and Ligh again. If you want a place with real heart, this is it.

El Sablayan Paraiso Beach Resort está situado en Sablayan, a 800 metros de Buenavista, y ofrece alojamiento en bungalows y cabañas Nipa. Tanto el personal como los dueños muy atentos. Nos ayudaron con varias dudas que teníamos. Nos organizaron un transporte a Sablayan por la mañana muy temprano y nos prepararon el desayuno. La ubicación nos gustó, en plena playa en una zona tranquila. El alojamiento es sencillo pero acogedor. El menú es apetecible y variado, con muchas opciones.

Situated in Puerto Galera, Lalaguna Villas Luxury Dive Resort offers an outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre. Wifi is available throughout the resort. The hospitality staff and five crew are top-notch and made everything so convenient and enjoyable.

El Papa Freds Beach Resort está situado junto a la playa de Sabang y ofrece un alojamiento tranquilo y confortable con conexión WiFi gratuita en todas las instalaciones. I liked everything about papa Fred's. One of the best places to stay at Sabang Beach for many reasons. Great staff,,Rose, Milan and Wheng are very friendly and helpful. There is only a pedestrian walkway in front of the hotel but that usvthe way with all hotels on the waterfront. Great AC, and strong wifi. All very clean and modern. My unit had a small kitchen. The one big plus at papa Fred's is that after about 5 p.m. it is a quiet area. Sabang Beach can be very loud until the bars/restaurants close about 1 a.m. there is a small road that leads to the beach and anything to your left as you approach the beach is in a loud zone. To the left is much better and anywhere from papa fred's to the end is a quiet zone. Do yourself a favor and book thus location....it stays pretty full. Sabang Beach is all about diving...I did 8 dives and all were close to Sabang Beach area. It is ok diving but I have seen some other spots I prefer in the Phillipines. Overall it is a comfortable spot to stay with ent if goid restaurants and papa Fred's and average to better diving.

Placido's Vacation Home está a 9 min a pie de Balete Beach y ofrece jardín y restaurante, además de alojamiento con balcón y wifi gratis. This place offers great value for the price. It’s well located, close to Puerto Galera, and although it’s near the road, it’s surprisingly quiet at night, and traffic didn’t bother me. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with working (though a bit loud) air conditioning, comfy beds, hot water, toiletries, toilet paper, a kettle, drinking water, and good Wi-Fi. There’s also a great restaurant at the entrance where you can have breakfast and enjoy solid meals between 9am and 9pm. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The bed is pretty comfortable with multiple pillows. The place is also clean (though a little run down, here and there).

Aguada Hills Residence está en Puerto Galera, a 4 min a pie de Balete Beach, y dispone de alojamiento con salón de uso común y parking privado gratis. Ver picked us up from Calapan port in his car because we couldn't get a boat to Balatero port and it was such a relief after a long 3 hour boat ride from Batangas to Calapan. Ver is probably the friendliest po I've ever met. His vibe, the way he talks exudes friendliness. I liked the location as well. It's just well situated in the middle of the hill, no tourists which is good but keep in mind that you'll need earplugs since there's a lot of noise from dogs barking, roosters going crazy at 4am in the morning, etc. Had an excellent stay at Ver's place. I highly recommend his place!

Karen's Cottage at Angel's Beach Resort tiene zona de playa privada, salón de uso común, terraza y bar en Puerto Galera. El alojamiento dispone de karaoke y cocina compartida. Karen is such an interesting person to talk to. The place and the atmosphere are quite unique. Be prepared for something different and go for a swim to the beach in nearby Sabang.
