The common spaces have everything for a calm fun stay. This established old hostel has a renovated feel. You can find a cozy seat, hot coffee, or desk to work. My room had an ocean view, and my neighbor below had a balcony. The capsules are private and nice. You can reach The First from Hengchun or Zuoying via Kenting tourist shuttle bus 9189. And I departed on bus 9117B to Donggang. Both routes accept Easy Card. Nanwan is an ideal base for scuba diving with Houbihu DivePro 南青潛水. The dive guide picked me up at The First for NT$200. I enjoyed day trips to Sail Rock at sunset, Longpan Park for sunrise, Hengchun for the city wall and restaurants, and Eluanbi for its lighthouse, sea views, and amazing paths. The ATM at Seven Eleven accepted my international debit card. The weather in March is perfect for me.

This hostel looks very new. It is clean, quiet and secure, with a comfy lounge downstairs. Free coffee and a few snacks. You need to leave your shoes downstairs in the designated box. The large shared bathroom is very clean, and mixed for men and women. The beds in the dorm are large, with hooks and powerpoints. There are designated lockers, and you need to bring your own padlock. The location is walking distance from the main bus station and about 20min walk from the wharf to take the boat to little Liuqiu island. The night market on Saturdays is at the doorstep.
