The bungalow is maybe basic, but that's exactly why everyone comes to Bukit Lawang, back to basic! The family bungalow gives you a lot of privacy and constantly seeing monkeys in the trees. On the first evening we spotted an urang utang walking next to our bungalow!

Facilities are great. Hot shower with reasonable water pressure. Comfy bed. Excellent, cheap (~50K IDR per person or ~3€) breakfast (more details below). I would recommend staying at least 3 nights, ideally 4. First night you arrive. Next day you can potentially do a 2-day 1-night jungle trek. And when you come from the trek you give then everything for laundry, which should be ready by noon the following day (if weather allows; they sun-dry). Hence why 4 nights may be more convenient (plus you have the chance if enjoying the village). Breakfast: 3 or 4 packages (can’t recall), each includes a choice of juice and coffe/tea plus plenty of food: package 1 included a banana pancake with chocolate and package 2 included scrambled eggs with some veggies and a couple of toasts; package 3/4 can’t recall). Organization/Communication: Jay was EXCELLENT, he mare sure everything was great. We had our LionAir flight changed 5 times and every single time they reassured they would adapt and pick us up from Medan airport (fee was 700K IDR for one trip, which is reasonable considering it’s 4 hours and it can get nasty with rain, I would use their service again and again!). Services: They also offer laundry service which was great and fantastic value for money: I don’t know what we would have done without it with the clothes so dirty fron the jungle. Jungle Trek: We also did a 2-day 1-night trek in the jungle with them (~90€ per person, everything included except water, which you need to carry) and it has been the HIGHLIGHT of our Indonesia trip. Slamet and Risky were FANTASTIC guides. We saw several orangutans (6+), some very close-up, and many other moneky species: thomas leaf monkey, black gibbon, pig-tailed macaque, long-tailed macaque. Food was excellent throughout the trek and Slamet and Risky were super-knowledgeable all along.

We are travelling the world for 3 months and Garden Inn has felt more like home than any other accomodation on our whole trip. The staff go above and beyond, tending to your every need and desire. The hotel provides comfort, the rooms and beds are big, it's curated, so you feel jungle like with rocks and wood inside. Breakfast was amazing!!! Included every day and if we wanted something else they would say sure no problem! We did day trips every day, including orangutan treks where the orangutans were so close yet still wild. Very special! Adi our personal guide took us to all excursions and was exceptional about telling us the story of the village, the rainforest, sustainability efforts, he felt like the village elder and was great speaking English! Thank you Adi!!! Mawan, Rudi and Findo also were the most amazing guides, playing with our 4 and 6 year old boys!!! And making every excursion fun!!! Thank you garden Inn for your hospitality!!!

I loved the location of the jungle lodge, it was perched on a jungle hillside... truly amazing😍 I had Ian & Jeffrey as my guides & they were very informative and helpful throughout the jungle trek. Yanta was another assistant & I couldn't be happier about it... so kind & friendly :). Awesome experience! I will be back one day!

The place is located next to the jungle so you get nice morning visits of the monkeys while you have breakfast. The bungalow had beautiful views to the jungle and was very integrated in the environment. The staff was super nice and helpful; they helped us with our transfer from and to the airport and gave us recommendations for our trek. The trek was an amazing experience and we want to specially thank to our guide Mr Laughing! Also special mention to the delicious food that they provide (further than the super nice breakfast) and their great quality-price! Thanks for everything we will definitely come back!!
