Beautiful views and far from the hustle bustle of the town Risky and team were super helpful throughout. The gado gado was one of the best I've had in Indonesia. Wifi was far better than I expected.

We did the two days one night trekking with Jerry, Rudy & Abdi. The guides are very funny, knowledgeable about everything and Abdi’s food was amazing! The trekking was tough but we had so much fun and saw many orangutans and other animals. Unforgettable experience and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Indonesia! After the trekking we spent another night at the Garden Inn and did the village tour with Pindu, perfect way to learn more about the local community! He also let us make our own tempeh and gado gado, which was a lot of fun. If you are planning to visit Bukit Lawang, we would recommend to book everything with the Garden Inn team. Huts are simple, no electricity, which I liked. Owner took care of meals which were amazing. Also the trip to the jungle was very well organized with fruit snack and lunch. Huts are located on a hill to which lead a steep path but it is only 5 minutes hike. Alltogether maybe 30 minutes of walk from the village. You can leave your heavy stuff with owner and take only necessary things with you. During breakfast time expect visit of monkeys.

On The Rocks Bungalows, Restaurant and Jungle Trekking Tours - From May to September only stay here if you are booking jungle treks with us - feel free to contact us about our Jungle Trekking services... We were treated like family at on the rocks, wawan and his team were so helpful and friendly that we instantly felt at home. I cannot recommend staying here enough. We did multiple treks with Wong and he was wonderful, so much information to share but also never even felt like he was a guide. Treks can be suited for your fitness level but you are almost guaranteed to see orangutans no matter where you go. The restaurant was also delicious.

The place was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a relaxing holiday. But what made our time extra special was the kindness and thoughtfulness of Frenkie and his wife. They surprised me with a cake and doughnuts for my birthday, which was such a heartwarming gesture and made me feel incredibly welcome and cared for. I’m so grateful for their generosity—it really made the experience unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend this villa and these amazing hosts enough. Thank you, Frenkie!

It’s located in a quiet area away from the busy main road. The owner is a very kind elementary school teacher who lives near the homestay with his family. I stayed in one of the cabins and enjoyed the cleanliness, the hot water in the shower, the excellent WiFi, the exceptional view from the back porch, and the incredible hospitality of the whole family.
