We have the whole chalet to us, a family of 4. We really enjoy the tranquil and serene of the environment as there is no phone signal or WIFI. The chalet was well into the jungle and facing the sea with the sound of sea ponding onto the beach the whole night. Good experience for my family.

The beach is really right infront of the homestay and we can see the beach from the veranda of the homestay. In the morning, we practically have the beach to ourselves. During the night, we experienced a few blackouts. I think this is not the owner's fault. However, the owner provided us with portable solar lamp for our use in the house, which helped a lot. We really enjoyed our stay at this homestay and hoped we can come back another time.

Very chill and cool place. Romeo is a very friendly host. A one of a kind experience waking up next to the ocean.

Located in Mantanani Island, GreenHouse Lodge provides accommodation with access to a garden. The property boasts reusable plastic materials, using energy-saving lighting and conserving rainwater. Amazing experience! Probably the most unique and beautiful places I have ever had the fortune to stay. Silk sand and crystal clear water! Sook Peng and Fred are wonderful and kind hosts who help to ensure a brilliant stay. They help to organize all the travel arrangements from your lodgings in Kota Kinabalu to the island via car and boat, and it all worked seamlessly. The food that Sook Peng cooked was simply fantastic and some of the best I have had during my whole trip. The lodge is very unique and they take their environmental responsibility very seriously. Staying on the island is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s completely deserted apart from a small village and there are lots of different activities one can do. (Kayak, snorkel, diving, guided walks). We did bonfires at night and spent the days in hammocks just meters from the beach as the local island cows wandered past.

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. The resort is very well managed. Host is super friendly and we felt well taken care of, including delicious meals, great experiences on outdoor activities and the cozy room. Although the resort located in the middle of the mountain, everything is in good condition and very clean.
