The place is outstanding, surrounded by nature, sea and wildlife. The huts are lovely and clean and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner very good and they made vegetarian menu for me. The owners Pierre and his wife are so nice and helpful. They tried to make our days there so special. I give the place 10 points over 10. I recommend this lodge if you’re gonna spend some days in Bastimentos.

We had a wonderful time at this place. You are surrounded by jungle. The huts are very cozy and they have everything you need. Jen is the host of this accommodation and she lovingly takes care of her guests. There is a delicious breakfast and she helps you organize any activities you want to do. We will remember this accommodation for a long time.

Akwaba lodge is located at the middle of Isla Solarte about a 10 minute boat ride ($10/person) from Bocas del Toro. It is on a hill overlooking the water and Isla Bastimentos Breakfast is included in your stay. Lunch dinner and beverages are available at a very reasonable price. The lodge is an eco style lodge surrounded by jungle. Though there are no hiking trails through the jungle you are serenaded by the sounds of birds. Kayaks, SUP and snorkeling equipment is available for your use. Your host and their children are wonderful and will do anything to make your stay a pleasant and wonderful experience. Things to know, the lodge is off the grid with good WiFi and does not have AC, but we were comfortable with our open windows and ceiling fan. The lodge accepts credit cards, but tours and water taxis are cash only so bring US dollars. Side trips to Red Frog Beach and Green Acres Chocolate are a must. Pack insect repellent and anti-itch cream.
