We wanted to spend a weekend in a quiet place surrounded by nature, and Somova Gora chalet was an excellent choice. The chalet is very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, six beds and a sofa, and two wood-burning stoves that keep the place wonderfully warm. We really enjoyed in the house and hopefully will come back.

Fairy tale Christmas! It is a rare chance to meet the perfect combination of genuine hospitality, thoughtful serenity, simplistic comfort, and a sense of belonging in one place. Everything seemed, at the same time, to have kept its authenticity of nature, from the trees on the hilltop behind the house, to the joyful morning wake up sheep baaing, and to have been put there by a caring hand, trying and succeeding at creating beauty and organic harmony. These are the hands of the wonderful human beings who own and tend to the property with such love and attention, that you will always feel welcome and at home and thought of as a friend rather than a customer. Daughter Nina, mom Marietta, and the invisible but omnipotent dad Janez. From the always replenished stacks of firewood kindling, to the clean driveway, to the well fed and obviously happy cows and sheep, it is clear that the hosts put their hearts into everything they do and it's not just for the money. We knew from the start that this would be a Christmas to remember for our whole family. Our 19 month old daughter had never seen a live farm animal yet. Nina not only volunteered to show us around the farm, but did it on Christmas Eve when she should have been at home having a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of mulled wine. This was perhaps the highlight of the entire trip for our daughter. Almost a week later, she's still mooing and baaing, after seeing her first live cows and sheep. Nina always kept in touch with us, inquiring if we needed anything, if we were warm and comfortable, if we liked the jacuzzi. Ah, the jacuzzi! Such bliss. We traveled daily to nearby castles and towns and tried to see as much of beautiful Slovenia as a short winter day would afford. And there is a lot to see. The jacuzzi was what allowed us to truly relax after a day of driving and walking and to recharge our batteries for the next day's adventure.

We had an amazing stay at this apartment! The host was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The view was great. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made it easy for us to prepare meals and feel right at home. The apartment itself was spotless clean and had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Indoor pool and sauna is great for relaxation at the end of the day. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect getaway!

The natural environment is utterly gorgeous. It's very rural and can be very quiet (if other vacationers are not making noise next door). There is a small stream on the property. The house itself is sufficient for families. Up to 3 people can sleep in each of the two bedrooms. If you're European you'll likely find it fairly standard, if you're American you'll find it small with steep steps. It's a great place to stay put and relax. It is not well-connected to anything, so if you're hoping to go out, plan for lots of time spent in the car, otherwise, bring lots of food and whatever else you need and just chill out.
