Golden Sands Hotel

Hotel in Al Qusais, Sharjah

This newly renovated hotel, connected with a footbridge to Sahara Center Shopping Mall, has 343 rooms, including deluxe rooms (50 sq yards), executive deluxe rooms, one & two bedroom suites (with... We went on a family trip to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and see EXPO 2020, so four of us stayed for a full week in a room with enough place for at least six people. We really had a huge room with two bathrooms, a balcony, two sleeping rooms, and a 30m2 living room which was literally perfect for us. Master bedroom with queen size bed and wonderful view has enough place for younger kids to stay in the same room with parents. A smaller sleeping room with twin beds has an exit to a balcony from where you can enjoy your morning coffee looking at the desert and Dubai in the distance. Altogether I think we never were in so a large room in a hotel. Some furniture and kitchen equipment are truly old and waiting for refreshment but everything was working perfectly (AC, fridge, toaster, electric kettle...) and the staff really doing their best to keep everything perfectly clean. I think that the main advantage of this place is the staff, which is friendly, helpful and dedicated so they will do everything to help you 24/7 which was impressive. I think that for anything we asked for, we didn't wait for more than 10 minutes and we needed a hairdryer at 3 AM, just as an example. Buffet breakfast was a miracle with a mixture of European, Indian and Arabic dishes with tons of fresh fruits and pastries. No matter how crowded half an hour before the end, everyone will get a table, and waiters will give their best to serve everyone as fast as possible all with complying with all pandemic measures. Regarding the location, depending on what are you looking for. For us, it was great. We were usually leaving after breakfast, spend a day at EXPO or sightseeing, and returned to the hotel late in the evening. That way we have avoided heavy traffic and we were using only taxis to go around. Basically, the hotel is located on the border between Sharjah and Dubai so plan accordingly.

Out of the Desert and Into the Future

By the Persian Gulf, Sharjah is the capital of the emirate of the same name – the only one in the UAE to have a coastline on 2 gulfs.

Although not as internationally famous as its neighbor Dubai, Sharjah still has an exciting mix of old and new. The skyline is a backdrop of skyscrapers and many modern public buildings were designed by the ruling sheikh.

In sharp contrast is the Sharjah Heritage Area, the city’s oldest part. Here historic houses line pedestrian streets featuring some of the best museums, including the excellent Islamic Museum. On its northern edge is 19th-century Al Hisn Fort, an Arabic-style building once home to the ruling family.

Shopping in Sharjah is as big as in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Its shopping centers include Ansar Mall and Mega Mall, while a more traditional experience can be found in Souk al-Arsah and the Blue Souk, so called because of its blue tiles and roof. Across the park is King Faisal Mosque, a gift from the Saudi king.

Outside the city is a desert park, camel racing track and Sharjah Airport, the only place where you can drink alcohol. Find nearby hotels and apartments on Booking.com.
