Some restaurants do not have a fair attitude towards tourists. On the boards they advertise, for example, 10 types of beer, but then they prevent you by saying that they don't have a certain type, or that this beer is bad. Interesting that they are not so patriotic that they even criticize the local beer (Korce). There is a very long beach at Golem, the sea gently slopes so you can be a long way out and still in your depth. Water seems pretty safe for children, although it was very calm when we were there. Lot of different restaurants along the beach front, also some good ones in the 'High Street' which some of these seemed to be cheaper than the beach front ones. There was a games place in the high street where you could play pool or table tennis for 3 euro an hour. Some restaurants have a swimming pool you can use for a fee. There is a large Aquapark which cost 1000 LEK to go into and was good value if you spent a large part of the day there. This was clean and great for children. Used Black Eagle for a Quad Bike tour which was very good and the guide was very friendly and helpful. This was 50 euro for one person on a quad bike and 60 if 2 shared a quad bike. He was kind enough to pick us up and drop us back at our accommodation. It was nice to see a different part of the area. The downside of Golem (and I gather Albania in general) is the amount of rubbish and litter everywhere, it spoils the area. The tap water is not safe to drink and even the locals use bottled water. If you don't have a car this is a bit of a pain to carry back from the supermarket if you get the very large bottles. Albania is generally a bit cheaper than the rest of Europe, but not as cheap as we thought. I used booking.com to book airport transfers and these were faultless. Car hire was very expensive so we managed without it. Ideal area for a relaxing beach type break, but a week was enough and we would have got bored had we stayed there a second week.AnnUnited Kingdom - Scored 8.08.0

Generally a very pleasant and new experience. Had imagined a far less developed area, so were surprised at how many luxury hotels line the sea-front promenade. Having tried the food at several of these hotels, have to say that the best was at our hotel - the Atrium - quality and presentation, apart from the wonderful dining hall. As far as tours go, the only one with good english, and the one we chose was 'Amazing Albania' at the entrance to the Atrium hotel. Most others attend to Polish tourists. If you choose the 'Shala River' tour DON'T go on a Sunday, because the return journey will have you stuck in traffic due to the homegoing crowd from Kosovo also joining the main highway from their chosen beaches.CLIVENetherlands - Scored 8.08.0

There is a long sandy beach but quite busy for tourists from hotels, locals and backpackers have it worse depending on the narrow strips of beach between the hotels. There is also a nice promenade by the sea.

It is hard to comment objectively as this was low season and much of the restaurants and facilities were closed , but it is obvious there is much more in season.
