Hotel in Hainburg an der Donau
Overlooking the Danube River, this 4-star hotel occupies a 17th-century monastery in the historic Old Town of Hainburg. A sauna, a steam bath, and an infrared cabin can be used free of charge. Just about everything! Excellent location, beautiful historic building, splendid wellness area, comfy bed, wonderful choice of food and drinks at breakfast. The staff was friendly and quick to respond to any requests. They even let us store our canoe safely at the back entramce, just outside the reception! Breakfast in the monastery courtyard is pure pleasure in summer.

Located in Hainburg an der Donau, Pirates Hotel has a restaurant, bar and free WiFi. The rooms in the hotel are equipped with a flat-screen TV. I stayed in 1 of 5 rooms above the El Pirata restaurant. That was a tiny room, but the hot water in the shower was hot, the towels were white and soft, the TV showed plenty of channels. I was a bit late after 22-00 and was lucky enough to catch some restaurant staff who were about to go home and I didn't have to sleep in my car! No noise from the railway across the road. The neighborhood was quiet and charming!
Hotel in Hainburg an der Donau
Gasthof zum Goldenen Anker occupies a 400-years old historic building next to the Danube River and the medieval city wall and a 3-minute walk from the Old Town of Hainburg. Just a GREAT Place. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room we were in was large with a nice sitting area, very clean and nicely appointed. The ambiance was very welcoming and comfortable. The location was great as it was just across the street from the bike path and the Danube. The hotel had tables across the street where they served dinner, right on the Danube - so delightful. They also had an open courtyard in the hotel where they served meals as well. The breakfast was terrific and they would cook eggs to your specifications. They also had parking in a gated area next to the hotel. There is an elevated railroad right across from the hotel, but we never noticed any train noise. We couldn't believe this was only rated a 3 star - definitely a 4 star plus hotel.

My dad and I were traveling from the UK to Romania and we decided to stop to sleep the night in a motel and we found this one. We really liked how easy the check in and check out were. The room was cosy and very clean, the bed was comfortable and the food restaurant was lovely. However, the staff spoke little to no english, the menus were only in german and the breakfast was limited to basic stuff. Apart from that, for what we needed, it was the right choice and if there are no language barriers, it is even better.
Hainburg is rich in history. It is very recommendable to do a city tour. We enjoyed walking to Schlossberg and driving up Braunsberg. There are lots of biking and biking opportunities. It’s close by the Roman town Carnuntum, Bratislava and Schloss Hof.
Hainburg is very well situated for visiting both Vienna (by train) and Bratislava (by bus). It is a lovely old, walled town although sadly many businesses (shops, cafes, restaurants) have closed down. There is a lovely promenade/grassy area by the Danube and access to plenty of walks, including up the two hills overlooking the town, Sclossberg and Braunsberg.
We included this town as a stopover in our itinerary but when we got there regretted that we hadn't researched it more and planned a longer stay. We really only had a rather wet afternoon to look around and there were obviously interestin places to go into but we simply didn't have the time. It is an old walled village and a good deal of the old wall is intact and it is a short walk from one end of the old town to the other. There are also walks that you can do in the nearby Danube national park.
Hotel staff is extremely nice, they know how to make you feel at home. Room really lovely and clean. Safe bike parking.very good dinner and breakfast.
Hotel has been tastefully done. Rooms were modern and comfortable. Proximity to Bratislava is a bonus.
