Located in Ararat, 1.4 miles from J Ward Museum, Ararat Motor Inn has accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. The motel has family rooms. This was the best motel room we’ve ever had , it was like one in a 4 star hotel. So comfortable, very clean, with every facility you could require. We shall definitely revisit when next that way in Australia.Very pleased indeed.
Located in a tranquil bush setting in Ararat, G'Day Parks Ararat - formerly Pyrenees Caravan Park offers cabin accommodations with a private patio and barbecue area. Found the park perfect for our short stay The Beds were amazing, very spacious and comfy cabin
Ararat Southern Cross Motor Inn is located in Ararat, 25 mi from Halls Gap. Free WiFi is offered throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. The king size bed was very comfortable and the heating was running in the room ahead of our arrival. It was a cold night and arriving to a warm room was a pleasantly warm welcome.
The caravan park is located just on the outskirts of the main township. There is a bus available from the front gate if you don't feel like driving. The shopping centres have a good variety of foods available. Lots of specialty shops in town for browsing. For quick easy meals there are numerous takeaways to choose from. For more dining, the RSL appears a good venue and there a a couple of pubs in town. There are numerous tourist attractions. The gardens by the lake and cafe is a good place to eat out and relax. A visit to J ward is really a must. Aradale is a must if you have more time.
Lovely country town with a range of shops, some selling old wares, and other facilities (banks) - you could even get a relaxation massage. Convenient location for trips out to other areas and along the silo art trail.
Ararat was exceptionally clean and the Park and Lake had been kept in exceptional condition. I would not hesitate to recommend Ararat as a place to visit. The RSL Club was the best RSL venue I have seen. Meal was very good.. A great place for a meal.
Aradale Asylum ghost tour was loaded with history .Riley our tour guide was an enthusiastic historian of the facility .The J Ward was also a bonus history tour of the treatments available and used on "lunatics" during that time. Very sad and disturbing at times.
Ararat is steeped in history, from the gold rush days. The architecture in the town is beautiful, both buildings and homes. Grapevines grow along the front of all the shops, so it looks very green in summer. Beautiful old trees everywhere. A beautiful lookout called One tree hill, which you can see the Grampians in the west and Langi Ghiran in the east. There is a Chinese museum..Gum SAN Chinese Heritage Centre. There is a an old prison for the criminally insane which you can visit and also a old “lunatic asylum” both of which do not operate anymore but does have a museum and tours. Alexandra Gardens Park is lovely too.oh and so close to Halls Gap and The Grampians, a must see for awesomeness!
Great location. Central for travel to and from all parts of Victoria. Could enhance itself with more restaurants. Many properties seemed to present as less lived than they could be which diminished the town’s real character.
