We had a fantastic stay we did the nobles half day tour which was unbelievable. Would definitely recommend. The 360 restaurant amazing sunset good food live music. Met some really nice locals that we visited at their home again another experience.
Coober Pedy was very quirky with it's combination of above and below ground living. It is dusty, but that's to be expected due to it's location and being a mining town. The locals were very friendly. If you are there a couple of days, make sure you do a tour with Aaron from Noble Tours. His knowledge is vast and he will recommend must see places for you to look at during the rest of your stay. So many interesting things to do, we will be back!
Town & Opal Mine 3 hour tour was excellent and very informative. Sunset at The Breakaways 3 hour tour was also excellent and informative. Mail Run tour with Peter Rowe was fantastic - full day 9.00am - 9.30pm: dropped mail at 4 cattle stations, visited Oodnadatta (lunch) & William Creek (dinner) and managed to squeeze in a flight over Lake Eyre with Wrightsair - fabulous. Tony, our pilot was great. Outback Bar & Grill - great (even had Coffin Bay Kilpatrick Oysters: yum) and Big Winch 360 was a great meal, excellent wines, Gary (host) was very friendly and the cinematic experience - fabulous. We went to the Drive In Saturday night - great (last one operating in Australia - volunteers do a great job) and enjoyed a pizza from John's Pizza Bar. We intended to go to the Visitor Info Centre when we arrived but we drove down Hutchison Street and found all the places we were keen to visit - very easy to get around and well signed. We were expecting the weather to be in the high 20's but we had an unexpected indian summer - 37 degress most days. The Dug Out was perfect temperature day and night.
So many amazing places to visit with rich local culture and history. We went into Madworx Art which had stunning pieces by local artists - frames, barks, bowls as well as prints and stunning wood turning items that were over 100 years old! There was a great variety of styles. Madworx Art was right next to Johns Pizza Bar so we could shop while we waited for our meals, which were delicious. Best places to go in Coober Pedy!
Food was good especially at John's Pizza Bar. A lot of places shut. Suspect Covid was the reason .Pool was great...nice and friendly and polite .I did feel sorry for the girl at the Information Centre....apparently, she was new and therefore, inexperienced...could do with a little mentoring before you throw her in the deep end. She was pleasant and polite but needed more training.
Its an interesting Town to visit, worth having a look at because its very different to any thing else. The locals are friendly, the Bakery makes great Pies, and you must watch the Sunset from the Big Winch, great food , very nice staff.

To stay underground was a fantastic experience to us. It was cool without air conditioner and quiet. There were spacious living, kitchen, bath room and bedroom as well as BBQ corner. The owner knows everything about Coober Pedy.
Location was convenient. Room had high ceiling, so it felt more spacious. Unique experience in a cave hotel. You can do a self guided tour underground. Enjoyed sleeping in complete darkness!
