Located in Cooper Pedy, the opal capital of the world, this property offers underground accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. Guest facilities include a cafe and a gift shop. Melissa the manager was sensational. Melissa was so helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Trust her recommendations she knows her stuff. Great family friendly environment.
BIG4 Stuart Range Outback Resort offers luxurious apartment accommodations in Coober Pedy. WiFi access is available and there is an onsite restaurant (open seasonally). We have stayed here twice. Each time to stop to rest for the night when travelling back to alice springs from adelaide. We book the motel style rooms as they are best in my opinion. You have your own unit style accommodation with your own livng space, kitchen, seperate bathroom and bedroom. You can park right outside your unit and you have a bit of a back yard too. Staff are great, very easy and comfortable stay.
Located right in the heart of Coober Pedy, Cave Place Units offers the choice between a dugout unit or a ground-level unit. Received a lovely welcome upon arrival. Their two bedroom units are amazing, spacious, clean, modern and fully equipped. A lovely find.
Venushill B+B offers accommodations in Coober Pedy. Some accommodations is located underground. Free WiFi is available in public areas. Place was easy to find on phone Map. Check in was ultra easy, Mike was very pleasant. Room and bathroom were very clean. Bed was comfortable and the quietness was just what I needed after an 8.5 hour drive. It was nice to see a sign in the room reminding guests to save water electricity. Would love to stay here again if I’m stopping in Coober Pedy.
Radeka Downunder Underground Motel and Backpacker Inn is located in the center of Coober Pedy, on the town's main street. Facilities include a fully equipped communal kitchen and coin-operated... Awesome experience to stay underground and staff very helpful and very close to all amenities and staying in Coober Pedy is an excellent experience.
So many amazing places to visit with rich local culture and history. We went into Madworx Art which had stunning pieces by local artists - frames, barks, bowls as well as prints and stunning wood turning items that were over 100 years old! There was a great variety of styles. Madworx Art was right next to Johns Pizza Bar so we could shop while we waited for our meals, which were delicious. Best places to go in Coober Pedy!
Food was good especially at John's Pizza Bar. A lot of places shut. Suspect Covid was the reason .Pool was great...nice and friendly and polite .I did feel sorry for the girl at the Information Centre....apparently, she was new and therefore, inexperienced...could do with a little mentoring before you throw her in the deep end. She was pleasant and polite but needed more training.
Its an interesting Town to visit, worth having a look at because its very different to any thing else. The locals are friendly, the Bakery makes great Pies, and you must watch the Sunset from the Big Winch, great food , very nice staff.
I loved the experience of living underground. If you don't know what to look at, book a tour with Noble Tours Australia. The tour goes for 6 hours and shows you all you need to know and see in coober pedy and the breakaway mountains I rate the accomadation and tour 10 out of 10
Friendly place with some real characters. Went to the open air cinema on Saturday night - had a good time. Stayed at the Underground Motel and our cave was marvellous; could have stayed at least another day there. Would love to go fossicking next time and have more time to look at the shops. Had a great pizza at John's Pizza Bar (a lot of locals go there). Personally, we both loved seeing the kangaroos feeding time and holding a joey as we have never had the chance to do that before. A sunset trip to see the dog fence and painted desert was fun and very spectacular - leaves around 3.30pm - well worth it. Staying near to town is best as it was very windy when we were there and we opted to drive even small distances.
We were just passing through on a marathon journey from Queensland and didn't have enough time to fully explore Coober Pedy. It's a most unusual area with its moonscape views that it should be on everyone's bucket list of places to see.
Everything about Venushill was great. You got a feel of what it would be like to live in Coober Pedy. Safe for leaving trailers. A detailed and friendly guide by Mike through his workshop, Opals and history. Thoroughly recommend; would have liked to stay longer.
I had a whole underground house, 2 rooms, lounge, kitchen, more than I could use for one night, but allowed for a great experience of living underground in Coober Pedy. The place was well equiped, clean, comfy, extensive, good value, and only a close drive to CP
I loved my stay here because it was very authentic, we wanted to stay in an underground hotel and that’s exactly what we did and it was fantastic. It was an opal mine originally and you could still feel that.
It was a great way to experience living underground. Nice to have a full kitchen because there aren’t a lot of options for food in town. The property manager and owner were both lovely.
It was very comfortable living underground, beautifully fitted out and everything we needed. Staff were so helpful showing us ways to make the most of our time in Coober Pedy.
Easy and accommodating check in. Pet friendly and for children too! Have stayed at many places in Coober pedy and this is by far the best. Will stay here from now on!!
Nice location. Right at the center of Coober Pedy. It has a restaurant, underground bar, opal and souvenir shop, and underground display. Really special!
The location, the king size bed, the comfy lounge and the experience of living underground was great. The full kitchen was also handy.
Underground, sort off, never happened before. Shared bathrooms.
A very different experience and the hotelier was the best.
The apartments are beautiful, located with an amazing view and really modern and clean. Sleeping in a bed on a rock sounds hard, but the bed was very comfortable (thanks to a thick mattress). You can find Opals in front of the door (actually even inside in the walls).
very compfy & great staff ....Bar staff very helpful ...great place
