Fitzroy Island
Located on a tropical island in Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Fitzroy Island Resort is situated between the beach and the rainforest. Cairns is 45 minutes away by ferry. Super clean, comfortable room, staff are great and seem to love their work. The island is beautiful and very clean, and there's lots to do. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Green Island (Near Fitzroy Island)
This eco-resort offers luxurious suites on a tropical island in the Great Barrier Reef. Set amidst lush rainforest, the spacious suites feature private balconies with either rainforest or pool views. Everything. Room was clean and well maintained. Well airconned and fan help circulate the cool air. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful ;) Despite the tourist groups、 we busied ourselves with a reef adventure on one day. And just snorkeled off the jetty for a few days. Had the amazing opportunity to swim along side a school of large fish (surrounded by them) which was surreal to a city folk like me. Watched the sun set on the beach with the hamper dinner pack and ended our 3 night stay with the paragliding. Was everything we were expecting ;)

The bedroom was spacious, bathroom was neat, kitchen had all the supplies you need, the dining area was big and living room was very comfortable. Centrally located on the Cairns waterfront, The Sebel Cairns Harbor Lights offers fully self-contained apartments or hotel rooms with balconies and views over Cairns city or the harbor. We liked everything about Cairns Harbour Lights. Our room had the Trinity Inlet View which was worth the extra money. The apartment was spacious, clean, bright and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We were even able to do our laundry. A big plus. The pool and sauna were also enjoyable. We were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to see in Cairns, except the Botanical Gardens. The Esplanade along the water was a lovely walk with quality restaurants to choose from. We booked early and Booking.com had great early bird rates. We would do it all again, the city and the hotel.

the best part was the pristine water, Roxy Bar, the Summit hike and Lighthouse hike. Water is beautiful, however potential for box jelly-fish and irukandji stings, which can be fatal. Stinger suits are recommended during season. Pool was okay, although not very deep. Games room is okay but couldn't get coin change as wasn't working. Getting some cash from ATM failed one night due to wi-fi dropout. Most things to buy will cost you 3 times mainland cost for similar product. No dancing allowed currently. Try to get a balcony room - top floor best - or a beach bungalow. Not a great deal to do after nine pm. No cable, small TV. Nice though for quite nights on the beach. Take your own food, wine etc, unless money not an issue.
A fantastic location with excellent snorkeling on the great barrier reef right off the beach. Resort facilities are excellent and for us it was the fulfillment of a dream to visit the great barrier reef.
Excellent place for a holiday. Suites all ages with the activities available. We seen 6 black tips feeding on a school of fish which was amazing. The turtle rehabilitations centre was very informative. The pool and facilities were awesome. We would have loved a bit more variety with food. Found it very average.
Fitzroy Island is a perfect location for a holiday the scenery was so beautiful. The beach was safe swimming for the children. If you can't swim get a life jacket so you can get out there and enjoy the snorkeling. You will definitely see coral, fish, turtles. The beach, jetty the lighthouse and the ring track walk were all our favourites. The gardens were beautiful and tropical. The ring track was a good long walk to see the island. It is easier to walk up to the light house first, as the path is set, however note there are some steep sections. Its worth the walk and the views are amazing. Great exercise too. We also utilised the kayak and the paddel boards, which was fun. The trampoline on the water was great fun for the kids The 2 bedroom apartment had plenty of room and cooking facilities to cook your own food. Bring your own groceries to make your own food if you are having a long stay. We ate at the cafe and the restaurant the food was good. Both however could have had a buffet style lunch and dinner with variety that you get in overseas resorts. We loved the calamari dish at Foxy's, it was so good and the mango and passionfruit mocktail was perfect. The buffet breakfast offered at Zephyr restaurant was great. I would definitely take the family to Fitzroy Island again. We spent 6 days there and enjoyed everyday of it. Peaceful, calm location with scenery that is a feast for your eyes and great for the soul.
Loved the island itself but hated the accommodation and the facilities everything was overpriced, dirty and very substandard - $7.50 per bottle of coke zero - that is a joke!!! The WIFI is better when you get to Nudey Beach than on the island. Maybe they do that so you have to buy their WIFI package.
I found the walk to nudy beach refreshing looking at the trees and the sound of birds. The sunsets was breathtaking. Everything in working order and there were prompt response to your every need. The liitle conveniance store helped a lot but if you plan to make your own meals better bring along your own groceries.
