They genuinely care about the longevity of the snow economy and everyone should support this local small business. Did I mention the banging fire and rec room??? Outside area super styled too. Just 5 minutes’ walk from Jindabyne’s shops, bars, restaurants and parks, Alpine Gables offers heated apartments with lake or mountain views. location is good, facilities are fine. everything worked well
My actual stay at my the Snowy Valley hotel was awful. The hotel had booked 3 University groups at the same time as a couple of other families. They then proceeded to let them play loud music and slam doors until 11.15pm when I complained the 2nd time and they finally shut it down. Gower, the same happened the next night until ai complained again. Wit h 11 year old child who got no sleep until 12pm on both nights. I would not stay at this hotel ever again.
It is conveneient and close to snowy mountains. A 30 minute drive is easy to mange to the mountains. The accomodation in Jindabyne is way over priced and in the snowy season you really feel ripped off as A. there is no accomodation , B. and the one which is available is usually 3 star motels charging you over 600$ a night for very basic rooms. The dealings of motels what we dealt with was less than ideal.
Great place in Winter as a base for Thredbo and Perisher. Summer sport is great as well. Access to the mountains for hiking, mountain biking, or lake as well. Easy to get around and such a friendly place.
Great town to use as a base camp to access the high country towns, Mt Kozi, and the many activities to do in the area (be it gin tasting or horse riding). There is a couple of different supermarkets to chose from if self catering and a good mix of restaurants and bars if you don't want to cook.
I love the Snowy Mts, and particularly enjoyed walking in the National Park bushlands, walking on the path towards Kosciuszko (don't forget sun protection), and being beside any one of the rivers. It is central and convenient. Can recommend the information centre, the Parc Cafe (next door) and the Italian restaurant, La Famiglia (these both catered to gluten free).
Relaxed and friendly town. Lovely base for trips to the mountains. Enjoyed a family gathering at the Brewery the night before a wedding at Lake Crackenback. Beautiful walks around Lake Jindabyne and also made the great climb to Mount Kosciusko. Bucket list tick.
Jindabyne
fantastic family run business with the ability to cater for large groups, and isolated sleeping quarters away from common rooms and busy areas. location fantastic near Jindabyne, within walking distances from an array of local venues. The staff are fantastic, incredibly accommodating, and happy to settle any issues immediately. The cooked breakfast the next day was an absolute plus! even though it is a shared bathroom/showering amenities they are clean and easy to use/access. Will stay again.

The location and view is one of the best in Jindabyne. The hotel and staff exceeded our expectations and there was a very welcoming vibe. Kids loved the entertainment options in the lounge area. Food was delicious. Good parking. Rooms were modern, quiet and peaceful , clean and very comfortable.
Our room was very spacious & spotlessly clean. The bathroom looked as it had been recently renovated & the shower was excellent. Our room looked out onto Lake Jindabyne which was a bonus. A free cooked breakfast is provided in the hotel which was very good.

Hosts Claire and David were very friendly, flexible and helpful with local knowledge about what to see and do. The room was cosy with a view of the lake and the breakfast was great. Will definitely be first on the list when revisiting Jindabyne.

If you didn't mind driving 15 minutes to Jindabyne to get food, or the dirt road leading to the property, or getting mud into your car from the muddy car park spaces, or lack of any staff onsite, the actual room was fairly clean.

Loved that they had a guest kitchen on site to use, so made it a bit cheaper grabbing something from the local supermarket and taking it back to cook was great 👍🏻
