Tim, the owner was charming and exceptionally helpful in offering suggestions for sightseeing and great restaurants. And tips on stops along the A3 to the East Coast. Great location too!

Beautiful decor, great location. The conservatory was a relaxing environment at the end of the day, with either a cuppa or a wine. Breakfast was substantial with our room tray which included museli, yoghurt, and fruits. The friendly staff also served us eggs and toast with plunger coffee. Highly recommend.

The alternating one-way streets were a bit confusing but manageable. The parks and trees are lovely as are the colonial cottages. We took a river trip and it helped to explain the curious development of the city and recreational areas. You must see Cataract Gorge - Launceston's playground but note that there is plenty of scope for the less active and disabled there. Meals at the Jailhouse Grill are special - great food for all tastes in a virtually unrestored jail of the early period. Plenty of shopping places but if you like antiques, try Uptippety at the Launceston waste & recycling site. Good sorting, fast turn-over and low prices. I always visit there and come away with bags full of books and bric-a-brac.

The proximity of everything. We walked everywhere.
The proximity of everything. We walked everywhere. We enjoyed the Automobile Museum, dining at many restaurants at Seaport. We thoroughly enjoyed the football at UTAS! We decided to go on a cruise to Cataract Gorge. The commentary was informative and entertaining. We dined out for breakfast at some amazing cafes. Enjoyed a walk to and from Cataract Gorge, with a chairlift experience. We also explored a few pubs along our travels.

Drove up very early from Hobart for the football as the game was brought forward 4 hours. I would of drove back after the game had finished if I could of cancelled the accommodation with a refund. Hate driving around Launceston as there are too many one way streets.

From what we experienced there are only a couple of things worth visiting Launceston for, those being The QVMAG, Cataract Gorge and Du Cane Brewery for dinner. Would recommend a day trip and staying in Dev instead.
Low price, considering quality, at time of booking. Recently renovated and very comfortable room on first floor in main building, lovely tiled walk-in shower (though hand basin a bit small) in bathroom, very comfy bed, quiet room. Lift from reception, no steps required. Many other Hotel Launceston rooms require climbing a short flight of stairs, or have shower-over-bath, so check with staff if either is an issue. Location is less than 1km from city centre, very slight rise in road for those on foot.
We left the property as the facilities were not nice and our bathroom smelt strongly of cigarettes. Not sure how the cleaning staff aren’t flagging that someone had been smoking in the room to save others the hassle. We went to another hotel in Launceston and despite not being able to get a refund on the room because we booked through booking.com it was the best decision to leave as we had the most wonderful time there.
The hotel is decidedly late middle age, and will eventually need a thorough-going refurbishment. But it is clean and most things work ok. It's in a great location: a quick walk to downtown Launceston. The included continental breakfast was better than these things usually are. The parking set up was good too.
Comfortable room, good sized bathroom. Walking distance to restaurants. We stayed at the hotel on a Sunday night so it was quiet around the area. The hotel is very close to Launceston Hospital.
This hotel is very central but is also quiet. The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. We will definitely be staying here next time we are in Launceston!
