Stairs everywhere - can only access the apartments by walking up 1 to 2 stair cases. Parking is disgraceful - 3 carparks through a skinny access and only for very small cars with little room to manoeuvre your car - limited street parking during the day. Don't expect any help, you can't reach anyone and no one will get back to you from the voicemails or texts you leave. Very dodgy fixings - the bathroom sink is not secured to the bench/cupboard, the light switch was hanging out of the socket and was difficult and unsafe to turn on the main light. The towel rail and toiled roll holder were both coming off the wall. It wasn't cleaned very well, crumbs all over the kitchen bench top. It was the worst experience I've had with hospitality management anywhere in the world. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else.
The foreshore was really nice with lovely views and bars/restaurants. Not much shopping, you need to go out of the city for that. I would not return to Newcastle. You can get a short ferry hop to Stockton, but again not much to see here. Transport is fairly good and fairly cheap.
Newcastle is still an undiscovered gem in our opinion. The location on the water is beautiful with so much waterfront and beaches available for walking, riding etc. Restaurants/cafes/bars are ample, public transport is excellent, and the roads are not too congested during peak hour. Lots to discover in Newcastle.
I lived (briefly) in Newcastle in the late 1970s and it wasn't a "pretty" place. I'd recommend anyone who has old (fond and not so fond) memories of the city to go back to see how some clever planning has made it quite a gem. The inner suburbs too have been transformed. Cooks Hill, for example, could rival many of the most pleasant areas of inner Sydney, whereas even 30 years ago, let alone 50 years, it was fairly dismal. Clever planning however, didn't include retaining the train line to the CBD and the harbour. The light rail/tram doesn't seem to "work" too well.
Only there for two nights to attend a performance at the civic theatre. Our hotel was a very short distance to the light rail so easy to access the city. Didn’t need to use our vehicle during our stay. Had an excellent meal at antojitos before going to the theatre and the following evening ate at Basement - excellent food, and service, highly recommend. The city is a bit sad and is in need of an upgrade but the waterfront, beaches parks etc are a delight. Do your homework
Use the public transport if you dont have a car. Bus, train, light rail and Ferry to Stockton Beach. Great way to see Newcastle, beach, historic places and a working docks with ship movement every day. Loved it. Also take the bus to Fighter World and if lucky enough the fighter jets from RAF base will take off and land Awsome. Newcastle is transforming into a new age city and with a revitalised foreshore Ill Forno in Hamilton Great Pizza

Kristy met us at the apartment to handover the keys. She was very friendly & helpful. The apartment has uninterrupted views across the road to the ocean & beyond. Good location, within walking distance to cafes & restaurants. Woolies Metro is only a few blocks away with smaller local supermarkets nearby. Moor Newcastle East just down the road (33 Hunter Street) offers great vegan & vegetarian options. We also enjoyed a pizza from Valeries Pizza Parlour (87-89 Hunter Street). All up an excellent stay. Thanks :-)
The night we purchased was a gift for my son’s 21st birthday. He wanted to stay in Newcastle with his mates and we wanted to assure that they were in a safe and supportive accommodation and the accommodation was very convenient to nightlife so the boys did not drink & drive. My son was very impressed with both rooms that we purchased which had gorgeous water views and despite the boys young ages there was no judgement, and instead was treated obligingly with support and respect from all staff in all areas of the hotel.
Newcastle
Second time staying love this place. Very cheap pet friendly place closest to the heart of Newcastle that I could find for a really cheap price. Only bad thing was a dog next door scratching an barking but It settled with in an hour and that's not the villas fault. so the stay was perfect couldn't of asked for something better especially pet friendly. Staff were very friendly and showed us on a little map how to get to the room.
Newcastle
The apartment was very comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the separate living space/ kitchen and bedroom. The unit was very well furnished and the kitchen was a fully functional kitchen. The location is convenient for access to Nelson Bay and Newcastle. We especially enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood, but still within close proximity to shops and restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.
Newcastle
Room extremely clean, huge area with huge ensuite. Large window view of garden n suburb. Bedding immaculate. Parking underneath. Close to Newcastle CBD and park. Security code entry and security code to room. Our room ended up with a power fault due to heavy rain and the Tudor Inn relocated our accommodation to Newcastle Beach Hotel which was equally 100% for same price. Thank you all.
