This property needs no more praise - the Time and National Geographic Traveller have said it all! The room was so lovely sunlight-filled; my friend and I fell in love with the room, its unpretentiously elegant decor and warm ambience the minute we stepped into it. Everyday after our excursion in the beautiful Sarajevo, we couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to enjoy the room. The space just feels serene and comfortable both emotionally and physically. The location is also excellent, just a few minute of mild uphill walk from the Baščaršija Square – Sebilj Foutain.

✅ Positive Aspects

✅ Positive Aspects A unique blend of history and culture: Sarajevo is one of the rare cities where you can see the traces of the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Yugoslav periods on the same streets. This multilayered history gives the city a strong spirit and depth. Warmth and hospitality of the people: The locals are generally sincere, helpful, and friendly toward tourists, making visitors feel welcome rather than like outsiders. Ease of transportation: The tram and trolleybus network is simple, affordable, and functional. It is possible to reach many parts of the city center without using a car. A city intertwined with nature: Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and green areas, Sarajevo has a refreshing character. Escaping into nature is possible within short distances. Relatively affordable prices: Dining, transportation, and many daily expenses are quite reasonable compared to Western Europe. ❌ Negative Aspects The traces of war are still felt: Although the city has been physically rebuilt, in some areas buildings, infrastructure, and the social atmosphere still carry the effects of the war. Inconsistent service quality: Service standards in hotels, cafés, and restaurants can vary greatly—excellent in some places, quite weak in others. Air pollution (especially in winter): Due to its geographical location, air quality can deteriorate significantly during the winter months. General Impression Sarajevo is a deeply impressive city for those seeking soul, history, and human warmth. It greatly satisfies visitors who value meaning over aesthetics and sincerity over luxury. However, expectations should be kept modest regarding infrastructure, cleanliness, and service standards. In Summary Sarajevo is a city with flaws, yet one that makes you forget them through its people, history, and atmosphere—a place that is hard to forget once you have visited.

Sarajevo is a unique place to visit because of its long history of the meeting of east and west. This influences the City in every way. You walk from the east part of the centre into the west and notice the difference in architecture right away. Mosques have a call to prayer while churches ring bells. It is a very safe City in which everyone has a smile. There are also many museums and exhibitions depicting the unbelievable sadness of the war in the 1990's. A reminder of the world we live in dictated, by hatred of different peoples and the love of others. A really unique place, would recommend that anyone should visit to be reminded of the love that can be shown in the background of such recent history. One of the most remarkable places I have been and the people so welcoming a friendly. Food is fantastic.

There's lots to explore in Sarajevo from the picturesque old town to the museums, city hall, and tons of restaurants, not to mention the beautiful surrounding mountains and nature. The public transit is easy enough to use, just make sure you have small coins (they will give you change back). The cost of living is very low compared to central Europe. My friend and I loved how much the city is a melting pot. There are many great viewpoints to catch the sunset. We went to see a ballet performance at the Sarajevo National Theatre, which we greatly enjoyed. There are also so many interesting guided tours of Sarajevo that cover its history, culture, and heritage. Definitely an underrated destination that must especially come alive in the summer!

You can easily explore Sarajevo, especially the Baščaršija area, in one day. Kravice Waterfall near Mostar is definitely a place you shouldn’t miss. You should also visit Vrelo Bosne Natural Park, located close to Sarajevo Airport. If you plan to go to Kravice Waterfall, keep in mind that the round trip takes around 8–9 hours, so it’s best to start your journey early.

I had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Sarajevo! The place was very clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location is perfect — close to the city center, restaurants, and public transport, but still quiet and relaxing. The host was incredibly kind and responsive, making check-in and communication very easy. I really appreciated all the thoughtful touches and hospitality. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sarajevo!

We felt at home in Hotel Aziza. Mr Haris, the hotel manager, promptly addressed our queries and helped us book our tours. All the staff members were cordial and helpful. The property ensured that we had good vegetarian options for breakfast. We had a memorable family vacation in Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦 and Hotel Aziza played an instrumental role.
