First of all, I love Sarajevo for its atmosphere, wonderful mountains, wonderful views and incredible diversity. Because I am interested in history, this place is special, the recent civil war left its mark and the inhabitants cherish the memory of these events. There are many museums and memorial sites in the city honoring the victims of the war. It's even more worth seeing it with your own eyes.
The people of Sarajevo are very friendly and helpful.

Stunning place - such a culturally rich & vibrant place full of remarkably interesting history. Great buzz, dynamic place with great restaurants. Friendly people & felt very safe walking the streets at all times.
Visited many museums, took cable car up for views & hikes. Check out Funky Tours website for inspiration- we did excursions almost every day with them and stayed in Sarajevo for 9x days. Initially we only planned to stay one weekend but then we realised how much you can do there so stayed longer. Ryanair now fly direct from London & we stayed at Hotel Europe which was really nice & well located.
Enjoy your trip!!!

This is our second time in Sarajevo and we're definitely going to be coming again!
We honestly just enjoy the vibe and laid back energy of this city, combined with a great food, rich history and great people.
I think around 3-4 days stay is more than sufficient to visit everything at a laid back pace.

Looked forward to Sarajevo, especially after Belgrade, and didn’t disappoint. A lot of history, influences, different architectural styles, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend an interesting and insightful war tour with a veteran of the civil war, including the famous tunnel. Friendly service was a bit hit and miss but overall ok. Tram #1 is irregular, don’t rely on it getting to the bus station on time. Definitely worth 2 nights.

Sarajevo is an incredibly diverse city.
Sarajevo is an incredibly diverse city. It is still an insider tip for "Westerners". The traces of the war are still visible, which is to be expected. The people are incredibly friendly towards tourists - something you hardly find to this extent in larger European destinations. Tourists are explicitly welcome here, no matter where you come from.

All the main city attractions are at the reach of 30 -40 minutes walk. Alternatively, taxi service is well established and reasonable priced.
Public transport is available, but tends to be overcrowded.
Fast food restaurants generally named Cevabdzinica (meat), Buregdzinica (pastry), Pekara (bread), are perfect for daily snacks (any of them). Full meal restaurants also available at every corner.
Places to visit in the city: Bascarsija (of course), Vjecnica (the old City Hall, today a museum), Begova Dzamija (the Bey's Mosque (at Bascarsija), Cathedral (5min walk from Begova Dzamija)...
Places to visit surrounding the city: mainly the mountains and rivers like Trebevic, (use cable car from the heart of the city), Jahorina, Igman, Bjelasnica, Vrelo Bosne (the source of river Bosna)...
Did not like but could not avoid: vehicles exhaust fumes on the streets, cigaret smoke at every corner.
We stayed in the junior suite. It was spacious and clean, despite the floors being made of carpet. The kingsize bed was fantastic! There was a bar next door, but it was not loud with the windows closed. We were able to park the car right in front of the hotel door, in a courtyard away from the main street. But in order to get there, we had to drive 50 meters on the pedestrian sidewalk (which seems totally okay in Bosnia).
Had a great time at this hotel! I choosed it because I wanted to be away from the noises of the city center to be able to sleep quitely. The area is calm and quite, and I had a good sleep. The bathrooms which are shared, are right next to the hotel rooms. The breakfast was very good, and the owner drove me to the train station. I decided to book another night in a few days on the day before I fly home from Bosnia.
The landlord is a very good person. I have made many reservations through the Booking.com website. I never gave 10 points for any reservation. The house has all the items. The house is very close to the city center and is comfortable.
Stayed here during my motorcycle trip through Bosnia. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, free parking spot and there was even breakfast included in the price.
very neat and nice hotel. The room was clean and big enough to feel comfortable. Also the restaurant under the hotel offers good food, so it is worth booking a room with a breakfast included
