Aura Hotel Barú, hotel in Barú

Located in Barú, a few steps from Cholon Bay, Aura Hotel Barú provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a private beach area and a shared lounge.

Our stay at Aura Hotel Baru was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, starting with a complimentary drink upon arrival, which was a lovely surprise. The landscape was just as beautiful as we imagined, perfect for our getaway. We made great use of the kayaks and SUP boards, and my husband and son enjoyed fishing right off the boat dock. Lorde (hope I’m spelling her name correctly) organized everything for us, including an unforgettable snorkeling trip for our family. The rooms, especially the supreme bungalow where we stayed, were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The restaurant has a wonderful ambiance, offering a relaxing dining experience without any rush. The food was both delicious and satisfying. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely stay here again!

Pura Vida Baru - La Casa del Cholo, hotel in Barú

Located in Barú, Pura Vida Baru - La Casa del Cholo offers beachfront accommodations a few steps from Playa Blanca and facilities like a private beach area.

Its location. It was in a part of Playa Blanca with not so much boat or people traffic, although right in front of the property there were a lot of stones in the water which made for plenty of bruises and scratches. We also like the amazing staff provided by the staff. They went above and beyond to makes feel comfortable at ALL TIMES, it is really not their fault the owners make them work with so little resources, like no electricity, not working pipelines and so much more. But really Marthica and Yelitza were so polite, friendly and protective of us constantly. Yelitza's cooking and was delicious as well as her content smile and bright spirits, Marthica's sense of responsibility and professionalism was absolutely outstanding.

    Wow this location is AMAZING.

Wow this location is AMAZING. Truly it was a private beach all to ourselves… only one other couple there on our first night. The property only has 4 rooms total so you’re never going to have a bunch of people there. The staff were SO accommodating and patient with our lack of ability to speak Spanish. We only speak English, staff only spoke English but they always used translation making it very easy to communicate! I saw other reviews complaining about the food being overpriced and no hot water for the shower which seems silly to me after now experiencing how remote this place is! It was my toddlers first travel experience, and I was SO happy with the comfort Carey House offered. Is it a luxury hotel, no. But does it have everything you need on a remote beach location with PERFECT Carribean swimming and the best staff ever? Yes. We will be coming back!

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days. Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways. Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels. Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything). The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful. Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ). Hotels Soy Local Baru if you want the authentic and exclusive experience 5⭐️ Nena beach resort AC, pool and beach beds.

Contact from the hostel was great, they arranged the transport from my hotel in Getsemani to the hostel for 100,000. I had a driver collect me, drive me to Baru, where I was met by someone who helped carry my luggage to a boat that took me to the hostel - 10/10 for this part. I also had the same for my return. The location is also great just a few steps from the ocean.

The hotel is right on the beach, so the views are beautiful. The water is blue turquoise. The staff is cleaning the sand all the time. The food and fruit juices are very good. But the best was the staff (Freddy, Ronaldo, Agustin…) as they go out of their way to serve and please you.

A little bit of paradise on earth. we enjoyed everything from the hotel. Services are delivered with a high quality standard. The hotel is in the middle of the mangrove/forest/beach. Don’t miss the bar at the club house.
