This hotel is quietly located in the village of Sievershagen, a 10-minute drive from Rostock’s historic city center. It offers an American-style steak restaurant with conservatory, and free WiFi. Room was small but had everything we required. Bathroom good.
Rostock is a small town. In a few hours you can walk all around the city center, which is the only part that really deserves to be visited. All around the city center there are coloured and typical houses and churches. With the public transport you can easily reach the beach (Warnemünde) (simply awesome!)
Rostock has the charm of many northern German cities and also was part of East Germany, which you can still see in the apartment blocks. The old part has been rebuilt and one can easily walk to all the major sights. They have an old Medieval wall as well as a tower gate, Cathedral, Rathaus (town hall) and plaza. It’s not as impressive as Lubeck but still worth seeing.
A beautiful city with a Hanseatic past - so many beautiful buildings. Also has good shopping, nice restaurants and actually three old towns to explore (the main one, the old one to the East and the "student quarter" to the West), all worth a visit. Also the beautiful resort of Warnemünde is part of the city and it takes less than 30 minutes to get there from downtown hotels, so you can get the best of both worlds - stay in a bustling city and just visit the resort. Or stay in the resort and visit the bustling city. Also, the people of Rostock seem very friendly and the public transportation system is easy to use, efficient and quite cheap, with day tickets costing €5.20 and including all trams, buses, the s-Bahn and even city ferries.
stunning town, I love the hanseatic architecture, beautiful place to visit BUT the locals were generally quite rude and impolite to foreigners (and I am even white with blue eyes! not really massively different than them on the looks side) to the extend where they tell you the restaurant is closed and there is no breakfast at the hotel anymore, despite of the front door of the restaurant actually being open. or an sales-assistant offending you in a shoe shop where you purchase more than 1 pair of shoes. I actually cancelled the initial hotel booking on the day of arrival(Motel One) ,cos the receptionist was extremely impolite, did not want to let me check in 30 min before 15h and when I said it was slightly disappointing, shouted at me and threatened me with "Hausverbot".... I have never ever experienced anything like this in my entire life.... You better not speak any german if you visit, I believe you would enjoy your trip a lot more, understanding what they say makes it very unpleasant. Beautiful town, horrible people. Have been living in Germany for 8 years now and speak the language very well, I have never been treated this bad, at least not before I visited Meklenburg & Rostock. Which is the only reason I do not wish to go there again, although the nature and some of the small towns are very beautiful and surely worth visiting.
Not many attractions in the town. One free Culture Museum, worth visiting. Great astronomical clock at the st.Mary's church. For astronomy passionates quite interesting to guess the meaning of the displays. Nice organs in the same church with free concerts every Wednesday evening. Interesting city walk with a nightwatch at 20:00. That's it in Rostock. Good beach 10 km North in Warnemuende.
This city is a hidden gem away from the typical tourist towns and cities that American tourists head for. The city is lovely and has several charming small towns that are a short distance away from train. Rostock has North-German Brick Gothic architecture and tall gabled Nordic-style buildings that are very colorful. There is a wide range of cafes and restaurants throughout the city center. Many curiosities await for the visitor that ventures out of the center to several quarters of the city. Reutershagen has imposing Stalinist Neoclassical buildings. Lutten Klein, Dierkow and other outer areas display the socialist DDR architecture of the Cold War era.

The location was good but never go there when it’s hot, it was so hot I had to sleep with a wet towel on me, most hotels don’t have AC or even a fan.. as the weather is changing I think the hotels could at least invest in some cheap fans for their guest.. it was a horrible night for everyone staying 31st July
