The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very relaxing, beautiful view from the Parador. The food and service for dinner was excellent. We had a tour of the convent portion. It was very interesting.

The drive up to the Parador was exciting.

The drive up to the Parador was exciting. As we approached Alcaniz we could see it in the distance and as we got closer it was quite magical. We followed the labyrinth of streets to the summit and there it was before us with panoramic views across the country in all directions. Great stay

A beautiful Renaissance city.

A beautiful Renaissance city. The Plaza de España is highly recommended, with its town hall, the market hall, the church, and the Calatrava castle. It's welcoming and offers all amenities. The surrounding area is equally charming, a land of olive groves, almond orchards, and vineyards. Just outside the city are the Estanca and Motorland racetrack.

Alcañiz is a town with many places to visit.

Alcañiz is a town with many places to visit. We really liked the Palace, which is now a parador hotel, and the ice house, which is accessed from the Tourist Office, but you have to be prepared for the cold, especially when it's windy.

It's well worth visiting the grand Church of Santa Maria,...

It's well worth visiting the grand Church of Santa Maria, with its Gothic tower, and taking a stroll through the historic center, but also exploring the lower area near the river, where we saw what appeared to be a city gate and the remains of what looked like a city wall. And there's a magnificent, well-stocked bookstore on Avenida de Aragón. Much larger cities lack bookstores like this.

I didn't like anything.

I didn't like anything. We went to the information office and booked a guided tour of the church tower and a guided tour of the castle. The church tower was almost uninteresting. But the worst thing was the guided tour of the castle, a can of guide, to visit two spaces.

A picturesque town in central Spain, with a rather "rural" atmosphere! It's very pleasant to eat on a restaurant terrace in good weather. The town center is very pretty. However, when it's busy, you'll need to be patient to find a parking space!

The house is an old Farm House,which is located in Almond tree groves. It is about 1 mile form th centre of Alcaniz, which is an easy walk. Being in a rural location, it is charming and quiet with lovely views over the Almond groves towards the town. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. The staff were helpful and sent directions of how to get to the property.
