Underground parking for my motorcycle was a bonus, the room was large, clean and quiet and the cafe was appreciated as we arrived just before 16.00 when everything in Simancas closed. Breakfast was simple and fresh, good value.

I arrived on a Sunday afternoon at about 14h00 and ventured out to look around the town - very nice! However, I went out at 19h00 with the intention of having dinner to find it was like a ghost town and was told by the one local I did meet that I could eat nowhere. He suggested a place where I could get a drink - which was wrong! - but a few people standing nearby led me to a place right beside Las Tercias that had looked closed earlier on. It turns out they were also able to offer me a meal after 20h30. Also liked the fact that there was a fridge, bottle of water and 2 wine glasses left in the room.

Hotel Duero is 5 minutes' drive from Valladolid and offers rooms with flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi and full heating and air conditioning.

the staff were excellent, the hotel has been tastefully decorated and has charm! great stop for overnight stay between Portugal and the Santander Ferry! Not expensive and close to the main road, lovely gardens !! clean and lovely !! We will be back
