Clean facility, friendly staff and breakfast was superb
Not an awful lot to do especially for young people but Culzean Castle and Dumfries House worth a visit. We also enjoyed the Burns museum. Glasgow easy drive away. Ayr and other beaches would be great in warmer months . Best dinner was at Kirkton Inn, Dalrymple and best lunch at The Coo Shed
Ayr itself was a disappointment knowing how it was a number of years ago and how I is today, beggars dirty Main Street so many shops vacant and in disrepair Outside the town is still as I remember clean and beautiful. You can’t beat the Ayrshire countryside.
Ayr was once a very popular seaside resort for Glaswegians, and also had a Butlins holiday camp nearby. All this had died out by the 1990s. It still has a very nice beach, and there are many golf courses in the area. However the town is very run down, with only a limited number of restaurants. Access to Glasgow by train is good, with a train every half-hour taking about 50 mins. The Paddle Steamer Waverley - the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world - offers occasional trips from Ayr Harbour during July and August.
Love Ayr our guess house short walk from beach park and amusements and 5 minute walk too shops my 10 year old loves staying at the beaches we were there in April and she wanted too book back up here for summer weren't let down excellent
Easy to get too( we travelled by train) people in Ayr very pleasant, good places to eat if you want to go out+ not stay in hotel, there are good shops in town also plenty of golf courses nearby, I'm sure if you were staying longer there would be trips you could book to surrounding locations
Not a lot to do in the town, but run down and needs investment, we didn’t visit the beach which looked worth a visit . Race course was not running during our visit but course looks great. Had lunch in a Greek restaurant which was reasonable
