Charlottes Cottage is located in Bamford, 11 miles from Chatsworth House, 14 miles from FlyDSA Arena, and 15 miles from Buxton Opera House. Perfect spot for a cosy getaway. We don't have a car and we loved that we could get public transport as far as Hathersage and then just walk up the hill and feel like we were tucked away from everyone and everything. Comfy bed, hot shower, exactly what you need after a long day hiking or cycling. Really appreciated the washing machine as we got very muddy but an accompanying airer would have been good! The cows right outside the cottage were great entertainment but not so much when one of them bellowed through the whole last night of our stay.

We stayed just north of Bamford in the Yorkshire Bridge Inn. Lovely old building - traditional English pub - with excellent rooms and very good food. Idea for walking. The Derwent Dam, where the Dambusters trained, is nearby. If you want to do some shopping Sheffield is only 20 minutes by car.
Bamford is a tiny village with a post office and a couple of nice village pubs. It is on the road to Castleton and the Blue John Cavern which is why we stayed there and of course the Ladybower reservoir is there with lovely views and walks around and about.
The whole area has something for most people, there are a combination of different intensity walks, scenery to take your breath away. You do not have to travel far to get a change of scene. The Blue John mines at Castleton, and other small towns of the Peek District. Easily accessible by road.
The staff were very helpful and cheerful. The breakfast was very good and even the coffee was good which I am really fussy about. Didn’t like the orange juice in carton with straw. I thought the evening menu was limited and a lot of things were off the menu. What we had was reasonable but I thought a little on the expensive side. The pub was also a little cold. All in all very good value for money. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend but maybe go into castleton for evening meal.
Bamford itself is a very small town with only a pub and a cafe (which are connected) Residents and visitors seem to have to park on the road which makes the narrow roads quite congested. The scenery around the town is rally gorgeous however, and a trip up Bamford edge is well advised :)
First visit to the area which had lovely scenery and many places of interest. Plenty of quaint tea rooms and eateries set in picturesque villages and the locals are friendly and welcoming. Going to see Chatsworth House and gardens was the highlight of our visit. If you like walking or bike rides, there are more than enough routes to choose that cater for all, from the novice to the seasoned professional. We preferred to travel by car but could still appreciate the scenery and it is easy to find your way around.
Bamford
The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable - if a little smaller than I'm used to. Covid safe procedures were in place throughout the hotel, with lots of hand sanitising stations, one way systems and tables in the restaurant socially distanced. Ample breakfast was included, and packed lunch was available for our days out hiking. It's a beautiful location, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Bamford
Great location, perfect for walking- near to Ladybower Reservoir. Bamford station close by with links to Hope and Edale. The house was superb, very clean and fully equipped for self catering. The owners communicated very well. Parking was great. Enough room for one in the garage and one in front of the garage.
