The town itself is quite quaint lots of shops people are friendly some nice scenery on the way to and from far borough and a lovely little airfield and was able to watch the planes from our room but no noisy fascinating.
The location was great. Free onsite parking. Great value for money.very clean and comfortable apartment. Kitchen utensils needs replacing as they are scratched and nonstick surfaces don’t work. Excellent smart TV but could be better if it had more channels included except just basic free view.
There were nice eating places, it is close to bigger shopping towns but there did seem to be everything local. I did not get to see too much in the three days as the time was mainly spent with family on the Army base.
Female staff in the Male showers and changing rooms! Was it really necessary? What about the other paying customers? Could the male members of staff (i.e. the duty manager and the male pool / gym attendants that were present), not have dealt with the issue? Perhaps close the changing room or at least warn the other male customers who were trying to shower and change! I really didn’t need the female member of staff watching me shower and get dressed!
Having lived in Farnborough for 47 years I’m, perhaps, too familiar with the town and the area generally. It’s a commuter area with many residents working in London or at Heathrow airport but, perhaps, Farnborough is best known for the Farnborough Air Show although, even this is going to become less of a family outing destination in the future as ‘Public Days’ disappear. London is 34 minutes away by fast train, and proximity to the M3 makes journeys to the South Coast, as well as destinations such as Windsor, Winchester and Stonehenge very accessible. Marwell Zoo, Birdworld, The Hawk Conservancy and a number of National Trust properties are also within easy reach. The newly revamped Coral Reef Waterworld and The Lookout Discovery Centre, offering hands-on science and nature exhibits and activities, are close by in Bracknell. Farnborough Town Centre itself is in a poor state and doesn’t offer much in the way of good, quality shopping. However, Guildford, Reading, Woking, Bracknell and Basingstoke offer good quality shopping opportunities and are easily reached by road or by train. Farnham is also a short distance away, with ‘Farnham Maltings’ offering a range of Events for adults and children. Nearby, Fleet’s Harlington Centre also offers a comprehensive calendar of Events. Fleet has an attractive one-night Christmas Market, as well as other festivals during the year, an attractive area around Fleet Pond, the Hart Leisure Centre and a night time Club scene, as well as a good range of restaurants. Although Farnborough, itself, isn’t very dynamic, there is plenty happening around it!
