A lochside lodge, sitting on the northern shore of Loch Gairloch, with sea and mountain views and easy access to sandy beaches. Staff was extremely nice & helpful. The location has beautiful view and the house was very clean. I left something behind and they were kind enough to mail. This place was great to stay at and would definitely recommend. I would stay here for a few days if I had the time. Thank you!
Offering free WiFi and sea views, Oakwood B and B is an accommodations located in Gairloch. Located on the beachfront, this property features a garden. Everything was just on exceptional level: perfect location, clean and comfortable room with beautiful views, delicious breakfast. Sue made our stay - such a nice and helpful person.
Don’t book this hotel there are far better 3 star hotels in the area. Also the old inn is linked to this property and is not much better. We booked a couple of meals there, whilst the food was ok. The pizza was small and over priced. Once again ran with minimal staff. It appears the owner puts profit above all else. Could be two good properties sadly ruined by poor management.
Gairloch is worth a trip. On a good day the nearby islands look gorgeous and it is only a short walk - although across country - to beaches. It's an area for hiking and water sports - it would have less appeal for those of limited mobility. There is plenty of local wildlife - deer, squirrels, various birds, seals - and whale watching trips are possible. There is plenty of good coffee - but cafes often close at 4pm! Don't forget to visit Badachro where the Badachro Inn serves great fish and chips and 'King' Iain MacWhinney will be happy to receive you at his island kingdom of Islonia (Dry Island) and take you out on a seafood safari.
This is an expensive hotel and charge £14.95 for breakfast! I stayed in a superior room which certainly wasn’t superior, the furniture was dated and left a lot to be desired. In the restaurant, the young ladies are superb but the restaurant supervisor is clueless, ignorant and talked down to you. It’s strange that it works out cheaper to buy 3 large glasses of wine rather than a bottle (same quantity)
Gairloch is a lovely wee village. The village museum was very interesting and informative The hotel we stayed in was warm and welcoming. Beautiful walks in the surrounding area. Weather didn't detract from the dramatic coastal drive we had to Rua Reidh lighthouse. Just wish we had stayed longer.
Beautiful and breathtaking scenery . Walk to the Fairy Lochs was a very moving experience. Stayed at Shieldaig Lodge Hotel which is in a beautiful quiet location overlooking a sea loch. The 3 course dinner at The Shieldaig Lodge is outstanding. Compliments to the chef. They also have a very good extensive wine list.
A great village to base yourself in for exploring this part of the Highlands. Fabulous beaches within walking distance. A couple of hotels that do food and a great fish n chip shop open most nights. Also the Gairloch museum is fascinating and has a great little cafe above it. Gairloch - perfect whatever the weather :-)
Everthing was good, the meal we had on the night we arrived was lovely, I had the cullen skink, unfortunately I found a bone, fortunately it was my last 2 spoonful's or I would not have been able to eat it. The breakfast made up for it the choice was incredible. Staff very polite and professional. We also stated at a sister hotel i think our yours The Dornoch Hotel, which was a disaster and expensive.
Superb location at the ocean with beautiful surroundings. Quite outside of Gairloch, therefore easier to reach with a car. Very pleasant atmosphere. Very good kitchen. Friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfortable bedroom. Overall, very good quality for the price.
Very much appreciated the later check in which allowed me to make the most of the dry weather. Lovely comfortable accommodation. Very clean and cosy. Slept soundly. Has great views in good weather. Close to all the spots I wanted to photograph. Nice hosts.
The hotel is in the centre of Gairloch. The room had a separate seating area and a very good modern bathroom. The food was generally good when you got it.
Excellent 3 course dinner with stunning views from the dining room. The hotel kindly allowed me to charge my electric car via a 3 pin socket.
Good size rooms, hotel location is spot on and great breakfast to set you up for the day. Staff was also pleasant to deal with.
The hotel was nicely situated at the south end of Gairloch. Parking was easy.
