A lochside lodge, sitting on the northern shore of Loch Gairloch, with sea and mountain views and easy access to sandy beaches. Location - just what you expect from the middle of nowhere desolated Scottish Highlands location. Amazing views no matter what weather conditions. Free parking on premise, however might be busy when hostel fully booked (see alternative arrangement on the other side of building). Lounge and sitting area were a nice add on. It's a hostel, so expect people from all around the world with that specific atmosphere. Might be a stay of your life or a downer - it always is a lottery :)

Hotel was ok but could have been better. Food was ok but very limited on the evening meal menu. Room was clean and tidy and met our needs. Bar ran out of items this shouldn't happen especially for a tourist hotel with coaches arriving. I mean who runs out of white wine!! Staff tried hard to keep the guests happy but you could see they were struggling
THe town is quite a drive away but the hotel location was superb. It might be worth paying more for a superior room because a standard double left a bit to be desired Havong said that you don't spend all your time in your room. Overall I wish I was still there.
We commented on the poor state of the rooms and the response was they had a programme to upgrade. Some effort had been made to redecorate the public spaces but he bedrooms bordered on the awful. Certainly overpriced for what is available.
Overall the hotel was very old and not taken care of and properly maintained. Located at a beautiful location, but the facilities definitely not what looks like on the photos. The worst thing was the food in the restaurant. We wanted to have dinner there and the options were poor and everything frozen and fried. The breakfast was very poor too. The staff, even the management wasn't professional at all.
We loved everything about this hotel. We would have loved to have stayed longer than our one night whilst travelling on the Route 500, but will definitely return for a longer stay. The staff were lovely, breakfast was wonderful and the facilities were very good. The best hotel we stayed in during our time in Scotland.
The main attraction here for us was the magnificent Shieldaig Lodge Hotel. It was difficult for us to tear ourselves away from the lovely views there and from staying in playing snooker or cribbage or chatting to the staff. We only stayed a couple of nights and so did not explore the surroundings extensively. We went to Badachro a couple of times to the pub there which I would recommend. We also had a brief look into Gairloch which appeared to have a good number of facilities but it was a cold and wet day that I don't think did it justice. We did have a walk from near the Old Inn to the waterfall in Flowerdale which was very pleasant (about 1.5 hour round trip). And we also ventured a bit further south to the beach at Red Point which was beautiful.

Food was excellent both for an evening meal at night and an excellent cooked breakfast. Rooms are a little dated but perfectly comfortable.
