It's a great little village with a truly massive village green. I enjoyed looking round the place and could have used to train to London or to the coast (didn't stay long enough). Fantastic walk to Point Clear on the Blackwater and back - so lots of opportunities to walk, cycle and enjoy the beaches. I ate in the Restaurant 43 and the food was brilliant! Maybe wouldn't park in Jaywick next time.
Accommodation was lovely. Hostess very welcoming and provided everything we needed. Loved Brightlingsea and enjoyed Colchester - had a great Korean Lunch there. Routes in and out of the village easily navigated. Next time would be perfect with just my wife and I!!! - leave the 16 year old at home!
Very pretty village with a large green. On Wednesday nights in the summer there is motor bike meet up on the Green. There is a also a railway station which runs to Liverpool Street I think. It is also close to Lifehouse Spa, Clacton and Frinton.
There is everything you need in the village: a pub, which serves food, a restaurant, a Tesco express, a Chinese takeaway and the railway station. All within a short walking distance in the Jasmine room. Restaurant 23 and the Plough can be recommended. Both serve delicious food. The coast is a short drive away.
Really pretty village, handy for train rides to the coast and Colchester, probably has some good walking but we didn't do any. Had a couple of meals out at another pub in the village (The Plough) - first night was great (Weds), second was really mediocre. Enjoyed watching the cricket team on the green Saturday. Traffic is surprisingly heavy though.
Cute little village centred on a wonderful green. Cricket is a mainstay for the village and well supported by the community. We arrived on a Sunday and eating options were limited! We were able to eay at the plough and found the food to be reasonable although much of the menu eas already exhausted (only 6pm).
