3 star Hotel, 5 star values. Staff is so friendly and accommodating, very clean and welcoming. Old building but modernised, the bed had 3 USBs on either side. The food was amazing in the restaurant as well as breakfast. Really recommend this hotel.

Location and the feeling of space within a very busy hotel. The bar and food services were varied and tasty. The car was parked easily and access to surrounding areas of interest (beach was a hike) by foot was great.

As a Monday night it was quiet but the Byfords deli, cafe and restaurant was a treasure, a real find and so welcoming with lovely staff.
Holt otherwise is a super town with several options to eat and stay.

Holt is a charming place, though quite small.
Holt is a charming place, though quite small. One of the highlights is the steam train, which adds to the town’s quaint atmosphere. For more to see and do, I recommend visiting Sheringham, where you can enjoy the beach and explore cultural shops and entertainment.
We also took a trip to Morston Quay, about an hour by bus, to see the seals in the North Sea, which was truly worth the visit.
What really stood out to me in Holt was the friendliness and helpfulness of the local people. They were much more sociable and welcoming compared to my experience in London. I really felt like I experienced authentic British hospitality. Everywhere I went, whether in stores or around town, the staff and locals were incredibly helpful.
During our stay in Holt, we mainly dined at King's Head and Byfords. Both offered great dishes, with the steaks being particularly delicious. If you're looking to visit Sheringham, you can take Bus 44, which runs between Holt and Sheringham. For the schedule, you can check Sanders Coaches online.
I found really helpful was that at every bus stop, there’s a sign with a short number you can text to receive the next bus timetable for the day. This made getting around much easier.
One thing to keep in mind is that it’s not easy to get a taxi in Holt. You need to call a taxi company in advance, and the taxi will arrive based on their availability—sometimes no taxis are available at all. There is no Uber service in the area, so plan accordingly.

Holt is a busy compact town with many independent shops.
Holt is a busy compact town with many independent shops. There are at least 3 art galleries all exhibiting and selling high quality works of art set in comfortable surroundings. Car parking is at a premium in the town centre but there is a large car park about 10 minutes walk from the town centre.

Holt is a lovely location inland but not far from the coast. Lot of shops and eateries. everything you need in one place. Quaint little streets and houses to admire too. Two Magpies Bakery is one of our fave spots as it has such a good selection of cakes including gluten free choices ( not just a choc brownie). We also like Bakers & larners, a small family feel department store with all sorts to look at. Overall Holt has a nice mixture of independent and chain shops. It was also a good base to start our bike ride from to go off in to the norfolk lanes.

Lovely small town with lots of individual, independent shops. Everything from clothing, food, a department store, quite a few bakeries (Two Magpies and Owl Tearooms were both great), eating places.
Easy to walk around
Parking in most areas is limited to one hour but there are car parks available.

Holt is a very pretty village with lots of unusual shops and art galleries.
Many of which were tucked away in 'Yards' making it a treasure trove of discoveries.
I went in peak summer season, so the main car park was rammed, but that aside, even though there were lots of people around, it didn't feel overcrowded.
I spent a very happy couple of hours pottering around the shops and bought a lovely piece of art from Antonia Clare at the Chapel Yard Studio.
Great location to stay, just 5/10 minutes from the centre of Holt by car. Excellent accommodation. Highly recommend if you just want the quiet life to relax, switch off as we did and enjoy the remote feel in the countryside yet not far to beach and major sites in Norfolk. We had the best of both worlds!
Thank you so much to our wonderful host, Sally
The staff at The Wheatsheaf were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was fabulous and the chef cooked something different for me due to my dietary restrictions. The whole place was very clean, comfortable and ideally located for exploring north Norfolk.
Ideal rental option for exploring north Norfolk. The house is finished to a very high standard, spotlessly clean and less than a 5 minute walk from the centre of Holt.
