We wanted a hotel that was relatively near to Chester and...

We wanted a hotel that was relatively near to Chester and the Nunsmere served that purpose. Although the room we wanted was not available, the Hotel manager found a room that was. The Hotel and staff satisfied all our requirements in a most efficient manner and the breakfast we had each morning was first class. On our last day, we had afternoon tea in the library. Full marks. Whilst we were in the locality we visited Joddrell Bank to see Lovell's telesope. It was an enriching experience.

Very quiet surroundings, easy to get to places by car. We ate breakfast there ,one dinner in The Captains Bar & room service once for lunch sandwiches were delicious. Walks in the ground were good , ponds & benches to sit if needed. Avery good venue for weddings.

The location and rooms are great, but make sure you take your own toiletries. Mediocre wine list and average food and service standards could easily be improved by some smile training and attention to detail.

Beautiful hotel surrounded by lovely gardens and very private. Room and bathroom were both amazing and spacious. Had a really good sleep as well. I didn’t eat at the hotel due to other commitments but the menu looked very nice.

As we only stayed the one night didn't do an awful lot. But there is a lovely farm and gift shop worth a visit. Hollis farm shop. A must. Eating out is quite expensive, plenty of pubs in the small villages.

We booked 2 rooms, and received 2 rooms with beds - that’s...

We booked 2 rooms, and received 2 rooms with beds - that’s about as good as it got. On check in the receptionist was really difficult to understand, she was heavily accented and very quietly spoken - so not the best combination. She took a preauthorisation for each room of £30 as a deposit for the key card, the literature stated £10, but refundable on checkout, so fine. We were assigned double rooms which were on the 3rd floor, and called Daliah and Laburnam. So we took the lift to the 3rd floor but the receptionist didn’t say the rooms were up another 2 sets of steps around a corner - very old and not really accessible easily with suitcases in tow. The rooms were tired, and down steep internal staircases within the room itself. The general level of cleanliness was poor - for £80 a room I didn’t expect the Ritz, but the lampshades had holes, the light fittings didn’t work, there were dead bugs in the overhead light, the cups and glasses were dirty… not just stained but dirty and the heating in the room was broken. I’ve worked in hospitality for years - and would have those rooms out of order until deep cleaned and repainted. If we didn’t have to stay there we wouldn’t have - the GM needs to actually have a look in those rooms - they are honestly terrible. Unless you are guaranteed different rooms DONT stay here - faded grandeur is one thing but this was verging on uninhabitable.

The Hotel was in a great location and in excellent condition. My room a very good size and warm. The bath huge and endless hot water, the bed was extremely comfortable and a great size. The guest lounge and dining room well laid out with a good space between tables and in the main the staff were pleasant welcoming and friendly. Check in and check out were straight forward and without a hitch.

Beautiful place and a lovely hotel very clean and comfortable staff were friendly and welcoming Room simple bed was comfortable the room looked over the garden and lake let down was the little touches in the welcome book and information on the hotel we are sad that we did not have the option to purchase the nunsmere teddy yes not needed but would been nice to have the options

Stunning hotel set in beautiful grounds. We stayed in the Gardenia Suite which was a very spacious suite overlooking the garden. The whole place was spotlessly clean and staff friendly & helpful. The food in the Crystal restaurant was delicious and service exemplary. Breakfast was again delicious.
