The staff was very nice. The facility does not have elevators and they were kind enough to bring our luggage up for us and bring it down the next morning. We also left very early and since the stay came with breakfast, they send us off with a sack lunch. The room was also very spacious, clean and comfortable.

The road in is not for the faint of heart - it is 10 miles of single track for the most part, up and down, twists and turns. But it is totally worth it. Taychreggan is gorgeous, in the most gorgeous location ever. It is super pet friendly. It is location directly on the loch an surrounded by hills and mountains. I wanted to stay there forever. The food, in their AA rosette-awarded restaurant, is superb. They have a separate bar with fireplace and several lounges, all with stunning views. The location is quiet and serene. The staff is great, and kudos to Ivan, who assisted us with our auto's flat tire and with the rental car staff; he told them off, saying it was totally their fault as the tires were bald and should never have been rented like that!

The location was great, right along the seafront in Oban. The place was spotless and in excellent condition. But what set it apart for us was the staff and the overall service. Carrie was informative and friendly throughout our stay. From the warm welcome, to helpful information during our stay, through to the friendly goodbye to us and our dog on departure, she and the rest of the staff made the visit one we hope to repeat. Breakfast, too, was well executed and made for a nice start to each day.

It was a cozy stay, a little away from the waterfront but an easy walk to town. The property was beautifully restored, the room was comfortable and had an excellent view of the ocean. Breakfast was delicious. The person checking us in was welcoming, doubled up as a bartender was wonderful. We lucked out and saw the Northern Lights which was the highlight of our stay.

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.
The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.
Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.
Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

It is now Scotland’s Town of the Year 2024, and well worth a visit. Set in beautiful surroundings, with much to see and do. Easy to get to, especially by public transport links ie ferry, rail and bus. Lovely, unique shops and plenty of dining out options. I found a superb Italian restaurant called Kaina, which I will definitely return to! Oban is well worth a visit!

Oban is a small seaside town with an upbeat vibe.
Oban is a small seaside town with an upbeat vibe. In October, it’s less crowded with tourists, and some shops may be closed. Boat tours to nearby islands aren’t very active, but there’s still plenty to enjoy in Oban itself.

THANK TO ALL
The view from our room was spectacular over the Oban harbor and was incredibly spacious with a separate seating area. The location is perfect for walking to local shops and restaurants or the ferry. It is also right above the meet up points for most Isle of Mull tours. There is parking on-site behind the hotel, but also two lots nearby. They offer continental breakfast for a fee.
