Hotel in Pulborough
Checkers Hotel is located in the large village of Pulborough, on the edge of South Downs National Park. Free Wi-Fi is provided, as well as free on-site parking. We were staying at the Chequers to attend a wedding. John, the owner, was of great help with arranging our room key. He actually came to the wedding venue and dropped off the key, saving my husband the difficulty of catching a cab to the hotel and back again to the venue. John also helped arrange a taxi for us the following day. Really lovely family-run business, with a full English breakfast which caters to vegetarians as well as the meat eaters and lots of coffee! (much needed after the wedding!!)

The breakfast was amazing, so many options to choose from and the food was so tasty. Quiet location, however there can be a noisy group in the bar area. Apparently this is a 'hangover' from a previous regime which had a 4 hour happy hour!!! from 5pm to 9pm. For whatever reason this continues
It is a very beautiful part of the country with lots of places to visit close by. We visited The Weald and Downland Museum at Singleton, Petworth House and Park, Bignor Roman Villa, Denmans Garden, Pulborough Brooks Nature Reserve and Parham House all very interesting. We had our evening meal at the Hotel but all the venues had coffee and cake etc
Was house hunting and loved the area, near to all amenities, close to Gatwick by train and London. Looked like many interesting places to see and visit in future. Good eateries seen but not tried, some recommended by others. Liked Pulborough so much have put an offer on a house there.
We stayed in Pulborough to go to an open day at Nyetimber. Only downside was that it was impossible to get a taxi back from the venue without pre-booking and we had to rely on the kindness of the staff at Nyetimber to get back. In addition there was only one restaurant open in Pulborough on a Sunday evening.
Lovely part of the world. We had dinner in Arundel which was lovely. Arundel Castle is looks amazing and we must schedule a return visit to go see it. We visited two wineries, Nyetimber and Nutbourne and both were great. We did a bit of walking, rather than getting taxis which I think is a better way to see the area. If I do it again I would reaserch walking routes and try and link up the vinyards. Lovely weekend.
We were in Pulborough for a family funeral and had arrived by train. We walked into the village along the main road but later found picturesque shortcuts. We ate at the Oddfellows Hotel, which provided an excellent funeral buffet for us. It was lovely to be able to walk straight out into the countryside.
Pulborough
Quiet location, lots of parking space, self-check-in, clean room, comfortable bed, private bathroom, good Wifi (although it requires registration), coffee & tea provided, access to kitchen facilities. Lots of squirrels in the area and there are goats and other farm animals. There was an information booklet in the room with all the information you need.
Pulborough
Nice and quiet location almost in 'the middle of nowhere'. The hostess in a really nice lady and always there for a quick chat and willing to help you out. The kitchen was nice and complete. Wifi is quite decent and had to be shared with the other apartment. It is an ideal location to explore the West Sussex area.
