Sue and Mike are wonderful hosts! Their space is not only lovely and well located, but welcoming and cozy. In addition to our room and private bath, we were afforded a lovely sitting area just outside our room. Unfortunately, because of rain we weren’t able to use the lovely outdoor space in the garden, but they do offer a lovely outdoor space as well.
Breakfast was cooked to order in the morning and there was plenty on offer. After checkout we were able to leave our car and go out for a hike in the surrounding woods. I recommend this, as it was very beautiful. Mike even lent us hiking poles to use to save my bad knee.

The location was like driving into a fairytale forest. The restaurant was superb, the Chef’s new dishes were delicious! We loved the “Just Beetroot” and “Ham Terrine”, some of the best food experiences we have had in a while.
Great location to access the nearby steam train activities and surrounding beautiful countryside.
This independently owned, 2 AA Rosette-winning home-from-home is the only hotel in Porthmadog.

The breakfast was excellent, good selection. Within walking distance of the train station, shops, and attractions, which was helpful because I was using public transportation.

Wonderful hospitality from Mike and Sue, I couldn't have been more comfortable, I felt very much at home and will definitely be back. I will most likely book a longer stay when the weather is a bit warmer, this was for business.

This is a tiny place that has a great pub at its heart.
This is a tiny place that has a great pub at its heart. We saw a live band there and spoke to people from the area. Everyone was very welcoming. I would recommend visiting this little slice of Wales and spending time walking in the area and eating at the local pub. From the cottage we were staying in, it was a few minutes walk to access the local beach - perfect for taking the dogs to. If you wander down there in the early evening, you’ll see bats.

Although we didn’t find a lot to do in Talsarnau itself, returning to the Estuary Lodge after our days out was bliss.
The local pub serves delicious food(check which days they are open) and there is a fabulous walk along the estuary, starting right from the door of the Estuary Lodge.
Talsarnau is perfectly placed for visiting Portmeirion,Barmouth and other interesting places, with a host of different restaurants to choose from.We ate at :-
Yr Hen Fecws
Ship Aground pub
The Grapes
and were really happy with all of them.
Donna was exceptionally friendly and helpful,(even before we got there) always on hand to answer questions and give advice to enhance our stay.
She and Sylvia offered useful tips at breakfast time (-:

This is a small village with only one pub doing food - we knew this when we booked. You need to travel to nearby towns for evening meals/shops etc. The village is well placed for Harlech/Port Madoc/Portmeirion and Snowdonia generally so long as you are prepared to drive.

An ideal base-places to eat in harlech-barmouth-portmadoc, all within easy reach- plenty of bars in all of them too and three different railways to ride on as well as a coastal ordinary request service--a great beach in harlech too-and the famous portmerrion--you need longer than our four days.

Great hosts, lovely accommodation, excellent 1st class breakfast. Ideal for
Quiet peaceful stay/retreat or those who like a lot of walking.
If you are eating out the Grapes Hotel a 7 minute drive is a must.
A car is a must when staying in this area unless you like walking. Plenty of nice places to go but a car is essential.
Donna and her colleagues couldn't do enough to help make our stay as enjoyable as possible. As well as being courteous, responsive and attentive they went out of their way to provide local information about our planned activities each day. The accommodation was spacious, well equipped and meticulously cleaned, and ideally located for our visits to beaches, Portmerion and Snowdon. Compared to the 3 other hotels we stayed in during our visit to Wales, it was by far the best experience overall and excellent value for money.
We are disabled so were pleased to find a hotel where we could park right outside our room with no steps to negotiate. The room was provided with everything. including a bottle of milk and water bottles in the fridge. Everything was well-organised and the staff made us feel welcome. Although the motel is on the road going from Harlech north it was very quiet. It's in a good location for visiting the Lleyn peninsula or for Snowdon etc. I was very pleased with our stay and would recommend it.
THE MOST IMPORTANT requirement of any hotel or guest house is quietness. It’s the reason why we hate hotels and prefer a self contained form of accommodation . The location of this property was set back from the main road and we couldn’t hear a thing - simply bliss . Although compact it had everything we needed including Wi-Fi and Netflix. Bed was comfy and shower good - boxes ticked.
Log fire was very cozy, sure it’s an older property but we loved its charm.
good room with fridge (bottle of milk provided) , tea and coffee, microwave.
Owner and staff really friendly and helpful.
Great breakfast, cooked to order.
Talsarnau has nice walks along the estuary and easy to cycle to Porthmadog and beyond.
