Located in Whitehaven, 18 miles from Wasdale, 18 miles from Muncaster Castle and 21 miles from Scafell Pike, Harbourside Apartment provides accommodations with a balcony and free WiFi. The spaciousness of the apartment was amazing. It was handy to all amenities and well placed to see the local attractions. There were many unexpected extras such as a spare phone charger, a CD collection and player, a library including local history books and the kitchen fridge and freezer were a great size. The whole kitchen area was really well appointed. The bathrooms were also spacious and the whole apartment was very clean. The views of the harbour and surrounds were lovely and there was always something interesting to see. Restaurants were all within walking distance, and despite their close proximity there were no noise issues. Parking was secure and easy to get in and out of. Would certainly stay here again.

We enjoyed the walk into the town and the Harbour. Beacon Museum was fantastic and kept all our age groups happy for several hours with all the content and interactive activities. We ate in the hotel on 2 evenings and the food was excellent and catered for all tastes
I was really passing through, but Whitehaven looks like a really interesting place to wander around. It's also very easy to get to the Lake District and Carlisle via. Workington. It has good linking bus services, and lots of interesting looking shops.
Beacon museum is a must. Rum story is quite good. Nice restaurants/pubs especially Zest or Vagabond. Lovely walk round harbour and marina, can walk all the way round. Always something happening on the water. Interesting harbour with recent addition of a sea lock. One way system is a bit of a challenge, but head for Tesco and you'll be fine.
Did not really have time to see the town as our whistle stop visit en route to Scotland was mainly to visit the nearby Lakes. However, we were very impressed with the Chase Hotel and its staff. No pretentious adornments, just a friendly and welcoming reception. Special mention for Emma and Evie who served our meals and drinks with such enthusiasm and friendly attitudes. Also the lone cook Maureen who presented us with two delicious evening meals and a wonderful, plentiful and piping hot full English Breakfast. All staff were of the same calibre which really made our stay such a lovely experience. I feel sure that the prices and value for money were nowhere near as reasonable just a short journey away nearer the main Lakes.
Row upon row of empty shops, boarded up buildings, pubs, crumbling infrastructure and unfinished building projects at almost every turn. Depressing, desolate and disappointing, wonderful Georgian architecture left to rot although I did see some restoration work taking place. A prime example of a town suffering from the after effects of Covid and internet shopping. Establishments still open must amend their social media pages as many of the places I wanted to go to, especially eating establishments, had closed their dine in services. Virtually nothing open on a Monday evening. Booked a three night stay, left after the first.
I was returning to Whitehaven on holiday after living there 40 years ago it has changed a lot no chemical factory or major mine workings on hill anymore just a few for historical interest. Town has tidied up a lot the waterfront which was once dominated by coal and chemical industries now has a real social buzz, there are much more choice of places to eat than when I was last here, We would like to return.

Dave and Lisa were very friendly and provided good, clean accommodation and excellent breakfasts. We enjoyed using the guest lounge in addition to the ensuite room. There was also parking available on site. A pub and Morrison's were nearby (walking distance) and it is reasonably close to the centre of Whitehaven.
Great hotel with the friendliest of staff. Motorcycles are always safe, and can always park em outside the door. Great breakfast with a vast choice of items. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and garden and is only a few minutes walk away from town. Would highly recommend this Hotel.
