Woburn is a lovely village come small town. It has pubs and restaurants in its chocolate box high street. The main problem is at night if you go out after dark you will need a small torch just to be on the safe side. We went shopping at Milton Keynes which is near by. Just as is the Woburn abbey and safari park.
This was just a stopover for us so we did not have to travel to and from Center Parks in heavy traffic on Monday or Friday. We were so impressed with the village and the proximity of the Abbey (please note it's closed for refurbishment at present) and Safari Park as well as the short travel time from home in Kent. We will in future use this as a stopover on our way to and from Hereford as it will cut our overall journey time and be a very pleasant interlude. Woburn is charming and has a variety of nice restaurants from budget to high end. The Bell Inn has fabulous hospitality and food at great prices. We were also treated to a grandstand view (from the car park) of a pair of kites swooping and diving together right overhead - fabulous; and then saw a flock of deer under a tree when driving through the Woburn Estate. Stunning surroundings.
Woburn is close to many tourist attractions and is ideal for a short break. Woburn Abbey, Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes, and many other places of interest close by, would also appeal to those who like walking.
Woburn Abbey closed to 4/20 for renovations, But walk through grounds on public paths Great- about 7 kms-deer everywhere but Roar coming up9/19-10/19- deer all had Big antlers!! In NZ deer in the rut are dangerous! Woburn great place to visit-Sunday had a farmers Market-POPULAR!
The Abbey was fascinating. I will go back again in the future. We took a picnic to have in the gardens and they are magnificent. The safari park was also great. Can do both in one day but we didn't want to rush so we stayed over and spent 2 days in Woburn. Find a Greene King pub to eat in. You can't go wrong with the one in Woburn.
We liked the relaxed atmosphere and where the hotel was situated in woburn .it was great it had it's own parking and you can come back at night time to a hall door into your accommodation..you can have a look around the town and poo into some antique shops for a look or have a look at the Deer roaming around the woburn grounds .if you fancy a look around the castle it does be open to the public most of the year .if you like to cycle there is wburn woods you can do some mountain biking .
Fabulous house, so comfortable everything we needed and more! Adam was a lovely host, we really enjoyed staying with him and would love to go back.
