Some of the previous comments created a feeling of being a little unsure about booking this place. But we were positively surprised because it was absolutely fine. Rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. An early check-in was also possible after waiting just a little while.

As most foreign tourist who come to Pangkalan Bun, I was there to catch a Klotok into the Tanjung Puting National Park to see the Orangutans and other animals that live in Kalimantan. The town itself is very much like other Indonesian towns I have been in: an expansive place where you must have a motorbike to go anywhere. I did not get to see much of the town, but I did walk around the hotel for a bit. A very curious phenomenon are the 'houses' that Chinese investors have created for swifts to build their nests so they can be harvested for 'bird's nest soup'. These are tall buildings with barely any openings on their walls (other than the slits or small apertures that the birds use to get in) and they have a continuous tape playing a very loud recording of swift calls. What a crazy place to live next to!

It was a technical overnight stop for us on the way to the National Park. It's a clean, sizable place with a modern shopping centre and a University. It's an OK place but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
