Great property, friendly staff and Johann is wonderful and very knowledgeable about the Vik area - highly recommend staying here and booking excursions through the Mountain Excursion company.

This guest house is 12 mi from Vík and 0.9 mi off the Route 1 Ring Road. Wi-Fi and parking are free. All rooms have a view of Pétursey Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. The receptionist was amazing here. She was also the bar tender and discussed local beer and spirits. She also gave us wonderful recommendations for areas to visit after our stay at the hotel. The hotel wasn't busy and the restaurant associated with the property was very good. The beds in Iceland are always soft and amazing and this bed was no exception. The best part was sitting in the lounge and watching the geysers erupt over and over while drinking cocktails.
Vestri Pétursey is a 2-bedroom holiday home at the foot of Pétursey Mountain, 8.7 mi from the Dyrhólaey peninsula and within 15 minutes’ drive of Vík village. - The house was very comfy and homy. Farmhouse Lodge is conveniently located right off the Ring Road. It's a close drive to Vík, Reynisfjara Beach, Dyrholaey, Skogafoss, and other sites. Our room was super cute and cozy. The whole place has a modern clean look and our room had huge windows and lots of light. The staff was friendly and check in/check out was a breeze. They also have a pretty decent breakfast from 8-10:30am. I highly recommend Farmhouse Lodge!
The farmhouse lodge and view of the northern lights!we picked up to go dinner at Halldórskaffi in Vík and brought it back to our room at the lodge to eat—food was amazing!!! Try the lamb sandwich! Pleasantly surprised
This area of Iceland is expansive and like most areas outside the capital, it is unobstructed. Not bleak. Wet, windy, wild but not too wild. Magnificent ocean. Suspect great hiking in the summer, and glacier hikes all year round. Vík í Mýrdal (Vik) is a nice little town with friendly people, food/dining, car service, Icewear wool factory, black sand beaches, and horses. Good outpost. Vík lies directly beneath the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which itself is on top of the Katla volcano (Wiki).
